Welcome to Snowboarding Profiles’ 2022 snowboard gear preview.
Here we will take a look at what’s new, what’s old and what’s changed.
This post won’t go into any great detail (there are separate posts for each individual brand for that), but is here as a sort of contents page for all the different brands that snowboarding Profiles covers. And as sort of announcement of the 2022 gear coming available.
Not that it’s only just become available. As it seems to be the be the case every year (last year excluded to some extent due to Covid) gear seems to be available earlier and earlier, even if just for pre-order. Pre-order availability has already been around for a month or so – and in the southern hemisphere probably longer as they get set to start their season (and in some places have already started their season).
Out With the Old
Plenty of old favorites, some real surprises and some one-hit wonders from respective 2021 lineups have been axed and won’t be holding a place in their 2022 collections.
A lot of these are replaced with similar or similar-ish replacements, but some are just gone with nothing to fill the void.

Observations
A noticeable increase in splitboard models have come out. In terms of snowboards there seems to be a net decrease in models for 2022 but a net increase in splitboards, with an overall net even effect. But there are certainly more split board models available for 2022 compared to 2021 (and 2021 was probably higher than 2020).
This trend isn’t too surprising with more people taking up splitboarding because of resort closures caused by Covid-19.
Some brands have consolidated their lineups quite a bit but some haven’t at all or even expanded. Perhaps could have expected a little more consolidation because of Covid-19 effects, but I think snowboarding was less hit than other industries, due to it being an outdoor activity and in most places, certainly in North America, remaining open, even if with reduced capacity.
Changes to Existing Models
There’s too much to go into into detail here, but check out the individual brand overviews at the links below, to learn more about significant changes to existing models.

Snowboarding Profiles Reviews
As always reviews for any gear that was tested by Snowboarding Profiles will be released throughout the year. A good number have been published already and more will come out every week.
A View to Next Winter
This exercise always gets me super stoked on snowboarding gear – and makes me want to get up the mountain. It’s 28°C (82°F) where I am as I write this, so I don’t think there’s much chance of snow falling right now! But I can’t wait until it does.
For those in the Southern Hemisphere, hope you enjoy your season! For those of us in the Northern half of this planet, be patient the snow will fall again (and who knows you may even be able to travel south this winter, depending on how much things open up again around the world).

Why don’t you cover any Nidecker gear. Never see them o your site.
Nate says
Hi Craig
Thanks for your message and great question. I haven’t gotten on any Nidecker gear so far, as they just haven’t been easy to get hold of. However, I have been in touch with them, just this week and going to get some stuff to demo this upcoming winter – so will have Nidecker reviews coming up – and will do previews for them too.
