This post will give a quick overview of the 2022 Lib Tech snowboards lineup.
To start with let's take a look at any new boards for the 2021-22 season, and any old 2020-21 boards that aren't returning with a 2022 model.
Then I'll take a look at each board and put them into the categories where I see them best fitting.

I have categorized Lib Tech's 2021-22 collection below. This is according to the categories here at SnowboardingProfiles.com and not necessarily the same as how Lib Tech labels them.
Of course these are only broad categories as every board is different, but this is a rough guide.

Summary
So there you have the 2022 Lib Tech snowboards lineup.
The new entries are all variations on the T Rice Orca, with the introduction of the Golden Orca and Apex Orca, in addition to a split version.
The line has been consolidated somewhat with 7 2021 models not returning with a 2022 version. Not too surprising, given the impacts of Covid-19.
Of the returning boards not a lot has changed. Some getting new sizes and others dropping some sizes, but otherwise everything returning looks pretty much the same as their 2021 counterparts (at least for the boards that I pay close attention to).
I was lucky enough to test some 2022 Lib Tech boards and I'll release my reviews for those through the year.
Hi Nate,
I am 5’9 180-190lbs and wear size 11 boots. Mostly ride fast, bombing straight lines on groomers when there isn’t pow, carving steeps and aggressive while on the resort, enjoying jumping side hits, dropping small cliffs, finding natural features and tree runs. Speed and stability is important to me. Mostly ride blues- double blacks and the occasional green if I must to get down to the base. Which binding would you recommend? I can’t make up my mind and trying to get a good match binding for my riding style and board. I really appreciate your input and time. Really leaning toward the 2022 Now drive for my 157 libtech golden orca.
1. Bindings: 2022 union falcor (size large)
2. Bindings: 2022 Now drive (size large)
3. Bindings: 2022 bent metal solution (can wear a medium or large since they overlap)
Tristan
Hi Tristan
Thanks for your message.
I think the NOW Drive would work well for your riding style and match the board well. The biggest downside I found with the Drives was the butterability – that tip to tail flex, but if you’re not really pressing/buttering, then that shouldn’t be a factor. If you did want to get more of that tip to tail board feel, then the Falcor would be the ticket. Good for bombing, but also have really good board feel. I haven’t ridden the Solution, so I can’t say much there.
You could potentially even go to the O-Drive, although for trees, side hits etc, you might want that little bit more forgiveness. But for when you’re really bombing the O-Drive would give you that little bit more stability. Getting stiff for the Golden Orca, but still definitely doable for it, if you wanted to go really stiff/aggressive with your bindings.
Hope this helps with your decision
Thank you so much for your reply and happy new year! I think I narrowed it down to the Now drive and the union falcor. I saw the falcor was rated 92/100, now drive was only 78.2/100. I think a stiffness of 7-8 would fit my needs to have some forgiveness off side hits and landings. I’m leaning falcor to be more versatile, board feel and having butter-ability versus not with the drives. I really appreciate your input.
You’re very welcome Tristan. And happy new year to you too!
Yeah, Falcor, IMO, certainly gives more board feel/butterability.
Hi Nate. Having a difficult time deciding between the libtech T rice pro and the libtech golden orca. I am 5’10 190lbs and size medium 11 burton boots. I have bent metal transfer bindings in medium. I am between sizes since the m fits 8-11 and large 11-14. I chose the medium to prevent heel or toe drag per shop recommendations. I don’t ride switch much at all and looking to charge down groomers, hit side hit jumps and chase powder in the trees if I’m lucky to find it. Had a 159 skate banana and in major need of a upgrade. Looking at the 159 t rice pro or golden orca in 157 or even 161 for float in powder. Any recommendations would be great. Just an all mountain rider and no park for me. Friends said the T rice pro would be better being more versatile but I am undecided. Thanks in advance.
Hi Ryan
Thanks for your message.
The T Rice Pro is more versatile for sure. However, given that you don’t ride any switch or park, I’d be leaning Golden Orca (that said, I haven’t ridden the Golden Orca, but just based on specs – I’ve ridden the regular Orca). The Golden Orca will be better in powder for sure – and whilst the T Rice Pro is likely better for side hits, I don’t think there’d be that much in it, if you’re not doing any spins (i.e. taking off or landing switch).
Overall for what you’re describing, I’d be leaning Golden Orca.
Size-wise, I think 157 for the Golden Orca would be your best bet. 161 would certainly float better in powder and be more stable at speed. But for that board, for your specs, I think it would be sacrificing too much in maneuverability to make those gains worth it. I think the 157 is likely be stable enough and float well enough.
If you did go T Rice Pro, the 159 might be a little narrow. Even though it is 259mm at the inserts, it’s only around 265mm at the back insert, which is getting a bit narrow for 11s, particularly if you’re looking to carve. Even with Burton (low profile) boots, it’s pushing it. Might get away with it, but it’s borderline. 157W would be your safer bet.
Definitely no problem going with the M bindings, so long as your boots fit in them. But they’re unlikely to affect heel or toe drag on the width of board that you likely want with 11s. That said, I’ve never measured a Large Bent Metal Binding, so I don’t know how long they run, but I wouldn’t have thought they’d be so big as to overhang on a board that’s 265mm+ at the inserts – and I’d be looking a little wider ideally for 11s. But again nothing wrong with being in the M.
Hope this helps with your decision
Thank you so much for your response. I got a new phone and was never alerted so I’m just seeing this. My apologies. I’m definitely between the 2022 159 t rice pro and the 157 golden orca. I got new burton photon boots and I’m a 10.5W not an 11 like my previous boots which helps being slimmer. Both boards are back in stock so I’m looking to buy some new bindings ( now drive or bent metal
Transfer which are total opposites) and board to replace my 159 skate banana. Let me know which bindings or board you think would be better since being a 10.5 boot way swing your decision. Thank you so much and have a great week.
Hi Ryan
With Burton 10.5s, you should be good on the 159. Doesn’t change sizing for the Golden Orca, IMO – I’d still be looking at the 157.
Again, the T Rice Pro is a little more versatile, particularly if you’re looking to ride switch and it’s going to be better for sidehits. But the Golden Orca better in powder – and, though I haven’t ridden it, I would imagine similar or better for charging groomers. Golden Orca likely better in trees, IMO. Really didn’t like the T Rice Pro in trees.
For bindings, I think the Drive would be the best match. I haven’t ridden the Transfer for a good few years, but when I rode them, they were quite soft – and too soft for either of those boards, IMO. The NOW Drive will be a good flex match for either, IMO. If you were to go Bent Metal, then I think one of their stiffer bindings would be a better match than the Transfer.
