2022 Union Bindings Overview | Snowboarding Profiles

The following is a quick overview of the 2022 Union snowboard bindings lineup.

First I will look at any new bindings for the 2021-22 season, and any old 2021 models that aren't returning with a 2022 model.

Then I'll place each binding into the categories where I see them best fitting.

New 2022 Union Bindings

The new bindings for 2021-22 are:

Explorer - though only essentially new in name. They are in place of the Expedition. Though there have been a few tweaks/upgrades, so not purely a name change, but the major components (high back and base plate) are the same. See summary section below for the changes.
Explorer FC - like the Explorer above, the Explorer FC is in effect a name change from the Expedition FC, but there have also been a few upgrades - most notably new ankle and toe straps.
Rover - OK not actually bindings, but definitely new. These are essentially uphill skis. The Expedition series bindings connect to these to get you uphill, then you can swap the bindings onto any solid board you want for the downhill.
Expedition Pack - Also not bindings, but goes hand in hand with the Rover uphill climbers. Designed for backcountry tours and specifically designed to go with the rover. The Expedition pack has a snowboard link system for carrying your snowboard up and a Rover link system to store your rover uphill climbers when you're on the way down.

Exiting 2021 Union Bindings

The 2021 bindings that aren't returning with a 2022 model:

Union Expedition - but not really because the Explorer is a like for like replacement, with a few upgrades

Union Expedition FC - but not really because the Explorer FC is a like for like replacement, with a few upgrades

All 2022 Union Bindings by Category

Below I have organized Union's 2021-22 collection. This is according to the categories here at SnowboardingProfiles.com and not necessarily the same as how Union might label them.

Of course these are only broad categories as every binding is different, but this is a rough guide.
