The 2023 Union snowboard bindings lineup welcomes the new Ultra and Atlas Pro but say goodbye to the Contact Pro and Milan.
Some tweaks to returning models, but no massive changes.
First I will take a look at any new bindings for the 2022-23 season, and any 2021-22 bindings that aren't returning with a 2023 model.
Then I'll place each binding into the categories where I see them fitting best and finally look at the changes to returning models.

Below, I have categorized Union's 2022-23 lineup. This is according to the categories here at SnowboardingProfiles.com and not necessarily the same as how Union might label them.
Of course these are only broad categories as every binding is different, but this is a rough guide.

Summary
So there you have the 2023 Union snowboard bindings.
Out with the Old
The longstanding Contact Pro and Milan make way after years in the lineup.
The Explorer FC (splitboard binding) is also out, but the Charger comes in.
In with the New
The Atlas series gets a new model - the Atlas Pro. Which sits, in terms of flex, between the Atlas and the Atlas FC.
Then there's the new freestyle leaning Ultra and Women's Ultra. A little softer flexing than the Strata (by my feel) but not as soft as the outgoing Contact Pro and Milan. So kind of fills that space, but not directly.
Changes to Existing Models
Not a lot of changes to existing models, but a few tweaks here and there, including:
- Strata/Legacy: The ratchets were magnesium and are now aluminum (downgrade). And the price has dropped from $319 to $249 it seems. So that's a significant drop just for that downgraded hardware! Also to note that it now only comes in the solid back highback. Came in both solid and versions with holes through it last season. I think pricing is mostly reflective of the Ultra coming in and the Contact Pro/Milan going out - and the pricing reflects where they see the Strata/Legacy now sitting in the pecking order. Great for the consumer though to get the Strata at that price.
- STR and Juliet: New "S11 Duraflex" highback
- Atlas: New "S14 Duraflex CB Highback". New ratchets. New "integrated" FLAD (forward lean adjuster)
Union's catalog this year also is only showing one overall flex rating as opposed to the separate ratings for highback, baseplate and straps that they've given in previous catalogs. I liked that they showed separate flex ratings and thought it was useful for people to know, so it's a shame they did that. Hoping they'll start showing the separate ratings again.

Hi ! What would you reccomend for a begginer-intermediate, all mountain – free style (more all mountaineer). The bindings will be laurea with a YES Dicey 2020-2021. I was thinking of strata, ultra or contact pro. Any other recommendations are welcome.
Hi Dragos
Thanks for your message.
All 3 would pair with the Dicey, with the Contact Pro being the most pure match, in terms of flex, IMO. Note that the Contact Pro was discontinued, but I’m guessing you were able to find a pass season’s model. The Ultra would my choice to go with the Dicey, but the Strata is still doable, particularly if you want something that will drive the board a little harder.
Hope this helps
Hi Nate!
Could you tell a length of baseplate for union ultra with size M?
Hi Arty
Thanks for your message. I measured the Ultra M at 23.6cm (9.3″) on the underside of the baseplate and 23.8cm (9.4″) on the top of the footbed. There’s only a very subtle rounding down, so the length of the baseplate and footbed are pretty much the same.
