2027 Never Summer Snowboard Lineup Overview

Never Summer has made some major changes to its snowboard lineup for 2027, even though the overall model count has only dropped by one.

The total lineup moves from 24 snowboard models to 23. But beneath that, the solid-board range has actually grown from 20 models to 22, while the splitboard lineup has been consolidated from four models down to just one.

The biggest story is the new Proto Swift family. The long-running Swift has been replaced by a heavily updated Proto Swift and joined by the new Proto Swift DT and the 178 cm Proto Swift ST. Together, the three boards take the Swift name in three fairly different directions: a tapered freeride carver, a more versatile directional twin and a full-sized swallowtail powder board.

Never Summer has also replaced the women’s Breezy Rider with the softer Cascade, combined its four outgoing splitboards into the new Summit T3 Splitboard and substantially updated the returning V-Twin.

New Never Summer Snowboards and Retiring Models 

The Proto Swift is the clearest replacement for the outgoing Swift, but it is more than a simple name change. It keeps the tapered freeride focus and swallowtail shape, while moving from Rocker Camber to Triple Camber Hybrid and adding Never Summer’s newer precision-stitched carbon construction.

The Women’s Cascade fills the same part of the lineup as the Breezy Rider. It has exactly the same four sizes and dimensional specifications, but its catalog flex and dampness ratings both drop from 5/10 to 4/10. Some of the listed construction also changes, which I theory should make the Cascade a little softer and more accessible than the board it replaces. We got out on the Cascade in the winter and are tracking to have the review for it released around mid-September. 

Never Summer’s splitboard range sees the biggest consolidation. The Nokhu Split, Proto Split, Swift Split and women-specific Lady FR Split all disappear. In their place is the Summit T3 Splitboard, offered in five sizes from 149 to 167.

The categories I place Never Summer's 2027 lineup in below is according to how we at SnowboardingProfiles.com categorize and not how Never Summer themselves categorize them. 

We have a neutral stance and are completely independent of any snowboard brand. So, our categories have nothing to do with marketing the boards. They are based purely on what we think the best use of each board is. 

We have included a beginner category below as well, but note that all boards in the beginner category will also be included in one of the other categories (the category that the board is most relevant for, according to our categorization).

Details of New Models

Never Summer introduced 5 new models for their 2027 lineup. 

Never Summer Proto Swift Family

The new Proto Swift family draws on the history of Swift Snowboards, the brand founded by Tim and Tracey Canaday in 1983, before Never Summer itself was launched in 1991.

For 2027, that history is being used as the basis for three different directional models. The Proto Swift is the closest successor to the outgoing Swift. The Proto Swift DT brings more twin-like versatility, while the Proto Swift ST pushes much further toward dedicated powder-board territory.

All three use Swift-specific versions of Never Summer’s Precision Stitched Carbon Matrix and Carbon Fiber Mapping.

Never Summer Proto Swift

The Swift’s Carbon Max Laminate Technology has also been replaced by the new Swift Precision Stitched Carbon Matrix and Swift Carbon Fiber Mapping.

Sizing has been reworked as well. The outgoing 153, 158 and 163 become 152, 157 and 162 respectively, despite retaining essentially the same waist widths, effective edges, sidecuts, taper and nose/tail widths. A smaller 148 and longer 167 have been added, while the ultra-wide 164DF has been removed.

The nose looks slightly more pointed and the swallowtail has been reshaped, but the overall outline remains recognizably Swift.

Never Summer Proto Swift DT

Its combination of a mid-flex, more subtly directional, modest taper and balanced stance should make it the Proto Swift for riders who want to carve and ride powder without giving up switch riding, side hits or freestyle versatility.

Never Summer Proto Swift ST

This is not intended to be the everyday option in the family. It is the deep-snow, big-turn model for riders who want the most direct modern interpretation of the original Swift surfboard-inspired concept.

Never Summer Cascade

On paper, that should make the Cascade a softer and more forgiving evolution of the Breezy Rider rather than just the same board with a new name. Never Summer positions it for beginners through intermediate riders, with enough twin-like versatility for cruising, park laps and occasional powder.

Does that translate in reality? Keep your eyes peeled for our Cascade review, set to be released mid September.

Never Summer Summit T3 Splitboard

The 20 mm taper and directional shape give it a much more powder-oriented outline than the outgoing Proto Split and Lady FR Split, while its five-size range covers a broader span than any one of the outgoing models.

However, this is still a major reduction in choice. There is no longer a women-specific splitboard, a true wide split or a more twin-like option. Never Summer has effectively replaced four distinct platforms with one versatile, directional design.

Changes to Returning Models

V-Twin

The V-Twin gets the biggest update among Never Summer’s returning models.

Changes include:

• Triple Camber Recurve replaces Triple Camber Hybrid.
• The overall shape is now described as a directional true twin rather than a true twin.
• It remains a true twin between the contact points but gets higher-volume, directional shaping beyond them.
• The nose and tail outlines have both been redesigned.
• An aluminum-reinforced tail replaces the previous aluminum-reinforced tip and tail construction.
• The size range and listed dimensions remain unchanged.
• Flex remains 6/10 and dampness remains 5/10.

The new camber profile should make the V-Twin feel more precise and energetic on edge than the outgoing version, while the higher-volume nose should improve float. The result appears to be a more all-mountain-capable version of the same playful, highly reactive platform.

We got a refresh of the V-Twin in the winter and will report our findings when we update its review sometime in September.

Women’s Proto Type 3

The Women’s Proto Type 3 was only offered with Hybrid Triple Camber for 2026. For 2027, it is listed with both Triple Camber Hybrid and Triple Camber Recurve.

The catalog says it is now available in both profiles, while the size range and dimensional table remain unchanged.

That gives riders a choice between the surfier, easier-pivoting feel of Triple Camber Hybrid and the more precise, camber-dominant feel of Triple Camber Recurve. Never Summer does not show separate dimensions for the two versions, so the profile appears to be the only difference.

Women’s Proto T3 FR

The Women’s Proto T3 FR is not marked as new, and its flex, materials, taper, setback and size range all remain the same. However, its catalog dimensions have changed across every size.

Changes include:

• Waist widths increase by 3 mm to 5 mm, depending on size.
• Nose and tail widths increase by 5 mm to 8 mm.
• Effective edges become 1 cm shorter on the 144, 147 and 151, remain unchanged on the 153 and become 3 cm shorter on the 156.
• The average sidecut radius becomes longer across the size range.

Those changes point to a wider platform with slightly mellower turning geometry and a little less effective edge on most sizes.

Because Never Summer does not call attention to the update or describe a new shape, it is difficult to know whether every change reflects a physical redesign or partly corrects the previous catalog’s numbers. But the differences are consistent enough across the entire range that I would treat the 2027 geometry as meaningfully updated.

Lineup-Wide Terminology Changes

Never Summer has also changed some of the language it uses for returning technology:

• Recurve Traditional Camber is now called Triple Camber Recurve.
• Hybrid Triple Camber is now called Triple Camber Hybrid.
• Several Proto models now list T3-specific Precision Stitched Carbon Matrix and Carbon Fiber Mapping terminology in place of the 2026 catalog’s more general Precision Stitched Carbon Matrix and Carbon Mapping Embossment wording.

For most returning boards, these appear to be naming and catalog-description updates rather than confirmed physical changes.

Outside of the V-Twin, Women’s Proto Type 3 and Women’s Proto T3 FR, the returning lineup appears to be materially unchanged apart from graphics and those terminology updates.

Summary of Never Summer 2027 Snowboards Lineup Changes

Never Summer’s 2027 lineup is more eventful than the one-model reduction suggests.

The brand has expanded its solid-board lineup, built an entirely new three-board Proto Swift family and given the V-Twin a more directional and camber-dominant design. The Cascade also gives less experienced women a softer entry point, in theory, into Never Summer’s Triple Camber range.

The trade-off is a drastically smaller splitboard collection. The Summit T3 looks like a serious and broadly sized backcountry board, but one model cannot offer the same range of shapes, widths and rider-specific options as the four boards it replaces.

The Proto Swift family is the defining story. The standard Proto Swift modernizes one of Never Summer’s most established powder shapes, the DT adds a more all-mountain leaning option, and the huge ST gives the range a genuinely specialized big powder board.
