2023 YES Snowboards
2023 YES Snowboards

4 new boards grace the 2023 YES snowboards lineup, with 3 of them being Uninc models. 3 drop out (including 2 Uninc models). Plus plenty of retooling ant tweaks to returning models.

First I will take a look at any new boards for the 2022-23 season, and any 2021-22 boards that aren't returning with a 2023 model.

Then I'll place each board into the categories where I see them fitting best and then look at the changes for returning models.

New 2023 YES Snowboards

The new boards for 2022-23 are:

  • PYL Uninc DCP - As the name would suggest a modified version of the PYL. The regular PYL goes back to being a little softer/more forgiving, like it was a couple of season's back. The Uninc PYL takes up the role as the stiffer option. OK, here goes, this might be a long one.... Differences from PYL  22:  PYL 22 had triax + ash veneer with the uninc just triax | the PYL Uninc core is poplar/paulownia/chakra vs "weightless" on 22 model | 1-4-1 camrock on Uninc vs 1-4-2 on 22 model | | PH Sintered True on Uninc vs Sintered True on PYL 22. But remember the PYL 23 also changed from the 22 version. Differences between PYL Uninc and PYL 23: 23 PYL rated 7/10 flex (as it used to be), vs 8/10 flex on Uninc (and on 22 PYL) | PH Sintered True on Uninc vs Sintered True on PYL 23 | the Uninc core is poplar/paulownia/chakra vs "poplar/paulownia" on regular 23 PYL | 1-4-1 camrock on Uninc vs 1-4-2 on 23 PYL | Differenct sizings on the Uninc model too - 155, 157, 159, 161. So there are some things about the Uninc model that are similar to the 22 model (but some different things too) and some things that the 22 and 23 PYL (non-uninc) have in common, but some differences too.
  • Standard Uninc - New Uninc version of the Standard. The Standard Uninc is much like the YES Ghost of old. Differences to Standard include: Full camber on Uninc vs 3-4-3 Camrock on regular Standard.  Triax + carbon (Standard Uninc) vs just triax (regular Standard). Standard Uninc comes in 153, 156, 159 and 162 like the Standard but doesn't get the 149, 151 and 167
  • Warca Uninc JPS - New full camber short wideish board. Based on 420 sort of but not really - with mid-bite but a slightly tapered mid-bite.
  • 420 - Not a new board as such, but a returning board, after taking a hiatus from the 2022 lineup (there was still a 420 Uninc JPS, so really it was never really gone). The new 420 is retooled though.

Exiting 2022 YES Snowboards

The 2022 boards that aren't returning with a 2023 model:

  • The Y  - the new Optimistic has turned into a hybrid of The Y and the old Optimistic
  • Hybrid Uninc DCP
  • 420 Uninc JPS
