2021 snowboard gear is for the most part already available or at least available for pre-order.
Of course it’s all already been out a while in the southern hemisphere, where the season is in full swing. But for us in the northern hemisphere, this is a bit of an overview of what’s new for the upcoming 2020/2021 season.
2020-2021 Catalogs
Most catalogs have been out for at least a few months now, circulating that stoke for the new season’s gear. As usual there are also some that don’t release their catalogs until late or don’t release them at all before the season starts. A bit annoying, but you get that sometimes!
What’s New with Snowboard Gear for 2021?
OK, so what’s new in the world of snowboarding?
Below I have outlined a number of new boards and bindings available for the 2020/21 season. This is far from an exhaustive list, but covers most of the new stuff from a number of brands. I’ll add more as I get more 2021 brand overviews completed.

And of course, there are existing models that have kept their names but have had minor tweaks or significant overhauls.
So, the snowboarding world has been busy!
What’s Not Coming Back?
As well as welcoming the above (and the many more new models that haven’t been mentioned), we bid farewell to the following, some in name only and others that we won’t see a 2021 model for in any shape or form. Some surprisingly so, and others not so surprising.

One of the biggest surprises for me here was the Lib Tech TRS. It gets replaced by the TRS C3, but I felt there was room for both the C2X version and hte C3 version. The Hot Knife made a little more sense, with the introduction of the TRS C3 kind of filling that space – though I did really like the Hot Knife, so a little sad to see it go, but it does have a suitable replacement, the TRS could have kept a C2X model, IMO.
The YES Libre was a surprise for me too as was the Union Ultra bindings and the Arbor Iguchi Pro Rocker.
The Salomon First Call a little surprising too. I haven’t ridden it, but it seemed like a nice option to have in the line – a more forgiving, cheaper version of the Sick Stick.

Snowboarding Profiles Reviews
Naturally, I was able to test several of the new offerings, and also plenty of other gear that was changed for the 2021 model or that I hadn’t ridden in a previous year’s model. Super stoked on the 2021 models – some sick boards coming out for sure.
As per usual I will release those throughout the year. With a lot of those reviews already published at time of writing this.
Bring on the Winter!
All this talk of snowboard gear gets me super itchy for the next season – laced with a little bit of jealousy of those in the southern hemisphere, in the middle of their season!
Particularly this coming season, with the previous one cut short due to Covid-19, I can’t wait to get back on snow. I know summer’s not even over yet – and I do like summer – but nothing beats winter for me – carving up the mountain and soaking in the views. So bring it on and happy riding to come!

So what gear would be considered last seasons gear come this march 2021.
2021 gear or 2020?
Nate says
Hi Francisco
Good question. I think it probably depends on who you ask. While I have seen limited 2022 stock on the shelves, personally I would consider last season’s gear still to be 2020 at least until the end of the season. But 2021 gear is already starting to go on sale, so price-wise, it’s more like past season now in some cases.
