2027 Union Snowboard Bindings Lineup Overview

Union made some pretty substantial moves for their 2027 snowboard bindings lineup.

The total binding count increased from 26 to 31, with eight new models coming in and three 2026 models dropping out. Union also made clear updates to seven returning bindings.

The biggest story is probably just how many different parts of the lineup Union expanded at once.

New Union Snowboard Bindings and Retiring Models 

The new Neo adds a medium-flexing, freestyle-focused option to the traditional strap-binding range. The Contact returns from exile as a lower-priced freestyle option and is joined by a women’s version for the first time. Union also expanded its Step On range with the stiffer Atlas Pro Step On and women-specific Astra Step On.

 Elsewhere, the Source collection grows from two bindings to three, the Force gets a new upgraded Team version and the new Ranger takes over the higher-end youth position previously occupied by the Cadet Pro.

While three bindings leave the lineup, Union hasn’t left large gaps behind.

The new Contact appears to take over much of the territory previously occupied by the Flite. It has a slightly stiffer 5/10 flex, mini-disc baseplate and more freestyle-focused construction. The softer and less expensive Flite Pro is still available.

The new Ranger looks like the most direct replacement for the Cadet Pro. Both were designed as higher-performance youth bindings, but the Ranger uses a different platform and gets a slightly stiffer 6/10 flex.

The Charger Pro doesn’t receive a direct replacement. However, the regular Charger gets a substantial update, including the EXP4 highback previously used on the Charger Pro. This effectively narrows the gap between the two and allows Union to consolidate its split binding range around the Charger and Explorer.

The categories I place Union's 2027 lineup in below is according to how we at SnowboardingProfiles.com categorize and not how Union themselves categorize them. 

We have a neutral stance and are completely independent of any snowboard brand. So, our categories have nothing to do with marketing the gear. They are based purely on what we think the best use of each binding is. 

We have included a beginner category below as well, but note that all bindigs in the beginner category will also be included in one of the other categories (the category that the bindings are most relevant for, according to our categorization).

Details of New Models

Note that  the flex ratings below are Union’s catalog ratings rather than our tested flex feel.

Union Neo

It gets a new three-piece S14 Duraflex CB baseplate, dual-density Vaporlite HD 2.0 and Hi-Flex HP EVA bushing, four-piece S24 highback and Union’s new Hybrid 3.0 ankle strap.

The new Aero 3D aluminum heelcup is also designed to reduce weight compared with Union’s standard extruded aluminum heelcups.

On paper, it looks a little like an Ultra that has been shifted toward freeride – though we’re still not sure what’s supposed to make it more freeride-oriented vs the Ultra. But we did notice an increase in both carving performance and slow response vs the Ultra – just not sure what part of the design that is coming from. What we do know, is that, for us, the elite level board feel and shock absorption make them really good freestyle bindings. We will have our review out for this soon.

It could also be viewed as a softer and more forgiving alternative to the Falcor.

Union Contact

It uses an S6 Duraflex baseplate rather than the Strata’s S6 Duraflex ST, HP EVA rather than the Strata’s Molecular bushing and a simpler S3 highback. It also gets an Exoframe 3.0 ankle strap and aluminum ratchets.

That makes it look like a more accessible version of the Strata rather than an entirely different style of binding (which our testing confirmed – review to come soon). It comes in $50 cheaper than the Strata.

Union Women's Contact

It gives Union another women’s freestyle option alongside the softer Rosa and more advanced Women’s Ultra. It should also provide a more affordable and slightly more conventional alternative to the Ultra’s suspension-style construction.

Union Source Pro TH

The new Hybrid 3.0 ankle strap uses a hinge-style connector and hot-pressed EVA core. Union says this creates a balance of cushioning, comfort and response.

Its 7/10 flex places it between the 6/10 Source and stiffer Source FC.

That’s all well and good, but it’s how these things feel that really matters – and let’s just say they exploded my brain (in a good way!) – the review for this one is one you’re really going to want to check out!

It appears to be the closest successor to the outgoing Source Pro, while the renamed Source moves into a more accessible position below it.

Union Atlas Pro Step On

It also gets a new Drive Frame rear bushing. Union says the shaped bushing increases response while retaining cushioning and shock absorption.

The resulting flex increases from 6/10 on the Atlas Step On to 8/10 on the Atlas Pro Step On, on paper. It should suit riders who like the speed and convenience of Step On but want something more powerful for carving, higher speeds and more aggressive terrain.

We were able to test these against the regular Atlas Step On to get a direct feel for the differences – review to come shortly.

Union Astra Step On

That gives women a Union-built alternative within the Step On system without having to use the dimensions and geometry of the men’s Atlas platform.

Union Force Team

The Exoframe 6.0 ankle strap is replaced by a Hybrid 1.0 strap with a PU core. It also gets pin-and-Quick-Lock strap adjustment and Magnesium S1 ratchets rather than the Force’s Magnesium S2 ratchets.

Union positions it as the pro-level version of the Force, offering more response and durability without moving to an entirely different platform.

Its overall flex rating remains 7/10 on paper, so the difference may be more about how it transfers energy and supports the rider than simply adding stiffness.

Union Ranger

Union rates it at 6/10 for flex, making it slightly stiffer than the outgoing Cadet Pro. It is intended for younger riders who have progressed beyond an entry-level setup and need something capable of handling park laps, powder and faster all-mountain riding.

It comes in small and medium sizes, giving it room to accommodate growing riders before they move into Union’s adult bindings.

Changes to Returning Models

Union Source

The 2026 Source Pro becomes the Source for 2027, but this appears to be more than a simple name change.

Union now rates the Source at 6/10 and positions it as the more forgiving model below the Source Pro TH and Source FC.

Its baseplate is listed as an S10 Halo Duraflex CB with a Duraflex CB core. It also uses a Non-Stick HP EVA footbed, S18 Source Duraflex Blue highback and Hybrid 2.0 ankle strap with a TPE core.

The binding retains the low-profile Direct Connect mounting system but loses some of the more premium construction associated with the previous Source Pro.

The new range now has a much clearer three-model structure:

• Source: The most accessible and forgiving model.
• Source Pro TH: The more versatile performance model.
• Source FC: The lightest, stiffest and most carbon-intensive option.

Union Falcor

The Falcor gets Union’s new Hybrid 3.0 ankle strap with an HP Core.

This replaces the Hybrid 1.0 ankle strap used on the 2026 model. The new strap adds a hinge-style connector, for easier entry/exit, and hot-pressed EVA core intended to improve cushioning and comfort without sacrificing response.

The rest of the Falcor’s main construction appears to carry over.

Union Ultra and Women’s Ultra

Both Ultra models receive a new S25 Duraflex ST highback, replacing the S15 Ultra highback used on the 2026 versions.

More importantly, Union has added an integrated two-stage forward-lean adjustment.

The Ultra previously had no forward-lean adjustment, so this should make it easier to tune the binding for riders who want a more aggressive highback position.

The rest of the construction appears unchanged, and the men’s and women’s models continue to use the same general components apart from their sizing and dimensions.

Union Force Classic and Trilogy Classic

The Force Classic and Trilogy Classic replace their magnesium ratchets with Aluminum S2 ratchets on steel bases. A small downgrade in ratchet material, but not a major change.

The baseplates, highbacks, straps, cushioning and general ride characteristics otherwise appear unchanged.

Union Charger

The Charger receives a pretty substantial update.

Component changes include:

• A new S3 EXP Duraflex ST baseplate replaces the EXP3 Duraflex CB baseplate.
• The EXP4 Duraflex ST highback replaces the EXP3 highback.
• A slimmer Exoframe 4.0 ankle strap replaces the Exoframe 5.0.
• The TS 4.0 Phantom replaces the TS 4.0+ toe strap.
• Pin strap adjustments replace the previous tool-less system.
• A new Non-Stick HP EVA footbed and HP EVA bushing are listed.

The EXP4 highback was previously used on the Charger Pro, so the updated Charger adopts at least some of the outgoing Pro’s character.

It doesn’t become a direct Charger Pro replacement though - the regular Charger retains an aluminum heelcup and 7/10 flex - but it should offer a little more support and performance than the previous version.

Summary of Union  2027 Snowboard Bindings Lineup Changes

Union’s 2027 lineup is not insignificantly bigger and more varied than its 2026 range.

The Contact’s return gives Union another medium-flexing freestyle platform and creates a clearer bridge between the entry-level Flite Pro and more advanced Strata and Ultra.

The Neo really impressed us in our testing but we’re not sure we agree with how Union are positioning it. Union is positioning it as a high-performance freeride binding. While we did think it was a step up in terms of freeride vs the Ultra, it still sits firmly as a freestyle binding by our classifications – though is very much the kind of bindings that could be used for a wide range of riding styles.  

Union is also making a bigger commitment to Step On. The regular Atlas Step On now sits between the more aggressive Atlas Pro Step On and women-specific Astra Step On, expanding the range from one model to three.

The Source collection has also become more clearly tiered. The renamed Source moves into the more accessible position, the Source Pro TH becomes the new performance-focused middle option and the Source FC remains the flagship.
