Set amongst perhaps the most stunning views you are likely to get from a ski resort (which is saying something considering how picturesque even the most ugly ski resorts are!), Heavenly will no doubt have the power to make even the hardest of hard men gaze in awe.
But this post is about lodging not the view – and there is plenty of Heavenly Ski Resort Lodging to help you enjoy the scenery and the riding on offer.
On Mountain Options
You have choices galore when it comes to staying close to the action. In fact you can choose to stay in either California or Nevada!
South Lake Tahoe
The main base area is situated on the edge of the city of South Lake Tahoe (SLT), California. The city has a population of just over 20,000 and is well set up as a ski resort town – so there’s plenty to do and plenty of places to stay.
There are also plenty of places within walking distance or a very short drive of the main base area.
The main lodge is less than two miles from the lakes edge!
Northern Tip of SLT & South West Stateline
At the northern tip of South Lake Tahoe and just across the state line in the aptly named Stateline (Casino Area) you’ll find more lodging options. A number of lodging options in this area are located walking distance from the mountain’s gondola. So access to the slopes from here is also super easy.
North East Stateline
There are also a few options in the Northeastern part of Stateline with close access to the Boulder and Stage Coach Express lifts.
Some of the highly rated lodging options in this area are:
- The Ridge Point
- The Ridge Crest
- The Ridge Tahoe
- Kingsbury of Tahoe; and
- The Ridge View

Told you there heaps of options!

Heavenly is located on the California/Nevada border on the south end of Lake Tahoe (at least they weren’t confusing with their names – South Lake Tahoe on the south of Lake Tahoe and Stateline on the state line!).
Being on the edge of a relatively populated town and near some populated areas Heavenly is highly accessible.
The Reno-Tahoe International Airport is just over 1 hours drive to Heavenly. There are direct flights to this airport from as far afield as London, UK and Mexico, plus a whole host of US cities (see below), making this one of the most easily accessible ski resorts going around.
- Las Vegas
- Los Angeles
- New York
- Orange County
- San Diego
- San Francisco; &
- San Jose
- Washington D.C.
Once at Reno Tahoe Airport there are plenty of options for transport or you can hire a car.
The other option is to fly into Sacramento International Airport which is just over 2 hours drive away.
If you are hiring a car or driving your own car you can check out the driving times from various locations near Heavenly in the list below. Note that these times are without traffic and don’t take into account potential winter driving conditions they may vary depending on your route.

Another great way to travel is by hooking up with fellow riders (or, Ullr forbid, even skiers!) at Zimride – ride sharing is a cheap way to travel and also to meet fellow riders.
