The reigning cheap freestyle board returns for another year, despite going up by $20 this year.
The Rome Heist scored well enough to make my Top 5 Women’s Freestyle Snowboards list, which doesn't take price into account. The other 4 boards in the top 5 were all above the average price.
The Heist however is a good $20 cheaper than the average price, but scores well above the average score.

The Paradise also retains it's spot from last year.
It has been a cheaper option of a good quality for years now. It made #10 in this year's Top 10 Women's All-Mountain snowboards list, which doesn't take price into account.
The Paradise scores a good bit above the average score, but is $35 cheaper than the average price, so great value-for-money.

BEST CHEAP WOMEN'S FREERIDE SNOWBOARD

WOMEN'S FREERIDE SNOWBOARD CATEGORY STATS |
Number of freeride snowboards looked at: | 22
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $449
Average price of freeride snowboards: | $557
Average Rating Score: | 83.0/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The Odyssey was only $50 more than the cheapest option in this category, but got an above average score.
A freeride board this price is hard to come by. Snowboards tend to cost more as they get stiffer, and whilst the Odyssey isn't extremely stiff or anything it's on the stiffer side of medium - and represents great value for those looking for a freeride board, but don't want to break the bank.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $17 compared to last year.
- The average price for this category is the highest of all categories - $39 higher than the next highest.
- The average price for the top half (top 11) was $593, making the Odyssey $94 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list.
- The Odyssey was the 2nd lowest priced board in the Top 11.
- Of the 6 boards costing $499 or less, not named the Odyssey, the average score was 78.1.

BEST CHEAP WOMEN'S BEGINNER SNOWBOARD

WOMEN'S BEGINNER SNOWBOARD CATEGORY STATS |
Number of beginner snowboards looked at: | 32
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $349
Average price of beginner snowboards: | $410
Average Rating Score: | 87.4/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The Lectra was the equal cheapest – and it was the highest that I rated of all beginner boards. Not to mention that it's $98 cheaper than the average price.
Price is taken into account for the scores for beginner boards – so this is somewhat skewed in this category.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $37 compared to last year.
- The average price for this category is the lowest of all categories - $22 lower than the next lowest.
- The average price for the top half (top 16) was $408, making the Lectra $59 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list. The bottom half of the list had a higher average price than the top half though - because price in this case influenced the scores.

How the Boards were Chosen
The boards chosen above were not chosen because they were the cheapest in their category, but because they were the best value-for-money.
This is a list of cheap snowboards, so of course they had to be at a low price, but the price-quality ratio was also an important consideration.
Over to You
Thanks for reading and I hope that this page has been helpful to narrow down some options if you are looking for a well-priced snowboard of a reasonable quality.

Hi Nate, why is salomon lotus absent in this list? This board have good price and good characteristics or in this season worse than last season?
Thanks so much in advance!
Hi Rachel
The Lotus is well priced as a beginner board. It is in our top 10 beginner boards – which for the most part are all pretty well priced. At the end of the beginner section here I mentioned a couple of other’s then linked to that list. But yes, it is a well priced board and well suited as a beginner board.
