The following is a quick overview of the 2023 Burton snowboards lineup.
First I will take a look at any new boards for the 2022-23 season, and any 2021-22 boards that aren't returning with a 2023 model.
Then I'll place each board into the categories where I see them fitting best.

Summary
So there you have the 2023 Burton snowboards.
Out with the Old
9 2022 models are retiring, but some are expected or just name changes.
The Kilroy 3D is gone but the Kilroy Twin just changes name to the Good Company.
The Family Tree Mystery Juice Wagon is gone, but the Mystery model changes every year, so that wasn't a surprise.
The Leader Board, Leader Board Split, Wave Tracer and Show Stopper all retire from the Family Tree series, which does tend to get quite a bit of turnover. The biggest surprise/disappointment for me was the Show Stopper, which was a board I really liked.
2 kid's boards also drop out.
In with the New
Replacing the retiring Family Tree members are the Forager, Territory Manager and First Cut.
The Mystery model for 2023 is the Mystery Con Artist.
The Good Company is just a name change for the Kilroy Twin and the Name Dropper returns after taking a Hiatus in 2022.
2 new kid's boards also come in. This is predominantly a naming change, to make it easier to buy gear for kid's. The new Grom matches with the Grom bindings and boots and the new Mini Grom matches with the mini grom bindings and boots.
Changes to Existing Models
Not a lot of change to existing models that I can see, but there have been a couple of things, including:
- Cartographer: Gains new size - 144.
- Fish 3D: Gains new size - 146.
Boots and Bindings
Not a lot of change here, so I didn't do a separate post for them this year. Some things include:
- Changes to highback and forward lean adjusters on the Genesis and Escapade, both Re:Flex and EST models.
- Kid's bindings separated into Grom and Mini-Grom, but just to make it clearer, otherwise no actual changes.
- New boot: Burton Ruler BOA wide - replaces the Burton Ruler Wide (speed lace) model
- The Ritual (speed lace) model is retiring
- The Ritual LTD BOA and Ritual LTD BOA Step On drop the LTD from their name. But just a name change.
- The Moto Boa and Mint Boa get H4 coiler BOAs, so now all boots in Burton's line use H4 BOAs.
Hope this has helped you to navigate the changes in Burton's line for 2023. For all Snowboarding Profiles' Burton reviews, check out the link at the button below.

I just read from the Good Ride that the Deep Thinker has changed dramatically. Do you have any information on it? Just curious, sounds like a much different board. Your site and reviews are outstanding.

Hi Max
Thanks for your message.
I didn’t retest the 2023 Deep Thinker – because no changes were indicated by Burton. However, I did retest the Free Thinker. Even though that had had no changes indicated either, I hadn’t ridden it for a good few seasons, so wanted to get back on it. And even though that had no changes, it was quite a different ride to what it used to be. So, they must’ve done something similar to the Deep Thinker by the sounds of it. Will be updating my Freethinker review later this month. Though I didn’t get as much of a dramatic reduction in flex as the good ride got with the Deep Thinker, I did feel like the Free Thinker was softened up. Interesting that Burton still rate the Deep Thinker as being the same flex.
