The Slash Straight is an aggressive ride that prefers speed and carving over being playful and slow, but isn't something that's completely unforgiving or something you have to always be riding hard. It has the ability to cruise and I didn't find it too demanding or fatiguing overall, for when you just wanted to cruise for a bit.
In this review, I will take a look at the Straight as an aggressive all-mountain snowboard.
As per tradition here at SnowboardingProfiles.com I will give the Straight a score out of 100 (based on several factors) and see how it compares with other aggressive all-mtn snowboard snowboards.

Who is the Straight Most Suited To?
The Straight is best suited to those looking for a versatile one-board-quiver board that is a consistent performer across various aspects of snowboarding and whose style is on the more aggressive, faster riding side, rather than a more playful style.
Could work as part of a quiver too and would be a good compliment to a more powder oriented board and/or a softer, playful, more freestyle oriented board.
Not for beginners - too stiff for that, IMO and while it's not super catchy, there is some consequence for getting your technique wrong. Should be fine for most intermediate riders, but a little bit of a challenge. Best for higher end intermediates and up, IMO.
TEST/REVIEW DetailS FOR THE Straight

O.k. let’s take a more detailed look at what the Straight is capable of.
Demo Info
Board: Slash Straight 2025, 159cm (251mm waist width)
Date: February 13, 2024
Powder
There were some patches of soft snow to play in and it felt quite good there. Specs suggest that it should be decent in deeper powder too, but nothing amazing, most likely. Middle of the road, or maybe a touch above middle of the road.
Carving
The Straight is a strong carver. Not necessarily limitless (in terms of max speed and deep trenches) but it felt really good to carve on overall.
Turning
Ease of Turning/Slashing: Doesn’t require a lot of effort and is easy to initiate. I could feel a tendency to catch in the tail but it wasn’t too bad.
Maneuverability at slow speeds: Decently agile for a mid-stiff board that is as good as it is at speed and on a carve. This is probably a reflection of the somewhat mellower torsional stiffness, which allows a bit more rideability.
Catchiness: For the most part not catchy. But doing quick little slashes at slower speeds did feel a bit catchy in the tail.
Speed
Faster and more stable than my control board and the Slash Vertical. I pushed it hard enough to get some chatter/wobble on the harder snow, but it took a fair bit to get it there. Can handle a really good amount of speed without feeling unstable.
Uneven Terrain
Crud/Chunder: This board has enough beef to smash confidently through most crud and chunder and remain stable and on line.
Trees/Bumps: It’s just a little heavy/stiff/powerful to be super fun and agile in the bumps and trees but still decent enough.
Jumps
Pretty decent overall. I liked the Slash Vertical better for jumping, but the Straight isn’t too far behind.
Pop: A little harder to extract than my control board, but nothing too bad. It has more total pop, which is to be expected, so you have to figure out which is more important to you, ease of pop or total boost.
Approach: Nice and stable but still able to make adjustments as needed. For smaller hits with slower approaches the tail felt a little catchy. Since the Straight is on the stiffer side of the spectrum it’s better suited for bigger jumps in general.
Landings: Nice and solid but not a lot of tail to save you if you need it.
Side hits: Decent. Again, agility and quickness aren’t its strongest suit, but it certainly isn’t horrible.
Switch
Not real great going switch but not terrible either. Transitions were good but there was a little bit of catch-risk there.
Spins
Not too bad. It doesn’t over-rotate after landing at all, but neither is it too limiting. It’s a little difficult to finish an under-rotation on the ground and I found I needed to be dialed in to get it to do exactly what I wanted.
Jibbing
Not much of a jibber board. A bit too stiff to be playful and creative on, for me anyway, and wasn't super trusting of it for jibs.
Butters
Butters were OK. They took some effort but not oodles. The tail is smaller and stiffer, and I definitely noticed the difference pressing on the tail vs pressing on the nose.
Score Breakdown and Final Verdict
Check out the breakdown of the score in the table below.
FACTOR | Rating (/5) | Weighted |
---|---|---|
Speed | 4 | 20/25 |
Carving | 4 | 16/20 |
Turns | 3.5 | 3.5/5 |
Jumps | 3.5 | 10.5/15 |
Powder | 3.5 | 10.5/15 |
Crud | 4 | 8/10 |
Trees | 3.5 | 3.5/5 |
Switch | 3 | 3/5 |
TOTAL (after normalizing): | 84.7/100 |
The Straight is a fun board overall and I'd be happy riding it. It trends more towards the cruising/carving side of things rather than playful terrain park stuff but doesn’t have any significant limitations that I could feel.
