If the Bataleon Moodboard had a BFF it would be the park... or would it be side hits?
Ah whatever, you can have two BFFs right!
In this review, I will take a look at the Moodboard as a freestyle snowboard.
As per tradition here at SnowboardingProfiles.com I will give the Moodboard a score out of 100 (based on several factors) and see how it compares with other freestyle snowboards.

Who is the Moodboard Most Suited To?
The Moodboard is best suited to those who like to lap the park and when not in the park butter around the groomers finding side-hits or dropping into the trees (and finding more side-hits in there).
Not for those who like to ride fast and aggressive and carve trenches or hunt powder, unless they have another board(s) for that.
If the above describes how you ride to a tee, then it could be a one-board-quiver board for you. But for most this will be a quiver compliment to go along with a stiffer, more stable board and/or more powder oriented board.
Despite its easy going nature, I wouldn't say its ideal for beginners, as it's got a bit of a different feel and isn't versatile enough to progress every area of your riding. However, it is, IMO, a great option for those who are park beginners.
TEST/REVIEW DetailS FOR THE Moodboard

O.k. let’s take a more detailed look at what the Moodboard is capable of.
Demo Info
Board: Bataleon Moodboard 2025, 143cm (236mm waist width)
Date: March 13, 2024
Powder
Definitely wasn’t a powder day when I had the Moodboard out, but based on its specs and how it handled, I would guess it’s not going to shine in that area. This one is much better suited for the park rats rather than the powder hounds.
Carving
It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t anything to write home about either. It was easy to initiate carves, and on shorter, sharper carves, it felt pretty solid. Trying to run out big, long carves wasn’t the move though; it seemed to wash out a bit there.
Turning
Ease of Turning/Slashing: I liked this board a lot for slashing and initiating turns was easy and felt smooth.
Maneuverability at slow speeds: Excellent! The Moodboard thrived here. Fast energy transfer that let me go from toe to heel with what felt like no effort at all.
Catchiness: It was amazing here, too. It just glided and I couldn't detect any threat of catching.
Speed
I wouldn’t call this a speed board. It could move quicker and handle it, but I wouldn’t recommend spending a lot of time doing it. It really just didn’t have the stability or edge hold to ride hard and fast.
Uneven Terrain
Crud/Chunder: It was quite chattery and I got tossed around quite easily in messy snow.
Trees/Bumps: It was a great board for its nimbleness and making tight turns through moguls and in between trees.
Jumps
Pop: Loved all the pop of the Moodboard! It was easy to find and went big on the wind-up.
Approach: Pretty good overall, though I did feel like I couldn’t go into them super fast.
Landing: This board was really forgiving, which I love when I came down less than perfect. It was stable enough to boost confidence as well.
Side-hits: Wow, I don’t have enough good things to say here. Seeking and destroying side-hits and berms on the Moodboard was the best part of the day. The board’s smooth turning capabilities and foolproof landings made hitting every side-hit I could find a must.
Switch
This board was so catch-free that it made transitioning a breeze. I was able to ride either direction without losing any control.
Spins
Handled spinning really well- I could get into them without fighting the board, I never felt like I was going to wash out, and it was really easy to manipulate off jumps and into landings.
Jibbing
Another strong suit. The Moodboard is definitely a true park rat stick. It seemed to perform its best lapping the terrain park, sliding boxes and grinding rails.
Butters
A fun board for buttering. I could get a lot of press out of both the nose and tail (which felt identical to each other, which is probably because they are!) and rotations were super smooth.
Score Breakdown and Final Verdict

---|---|---|
Jumps | 4 | 16/20 |
Jibbing | 4.5 | 18/20 |

Speed | 2.5 | 2.5/5 |
Carving | 2.5 | 2.5/5 |
Turns | 4.5 | 4.5/5 |
TOTAL (after normalizing): | 86.4/100 |
The Moodboard is at its best when spinning, buttering, launching off whatever you can find to launch off and weaving around in tight spaces.
It's not what I'd get if you like high speed action, unless you have another board for that and you want to use this as your playful, freestyle, creative board option.
