Hi and welcome to our Remind Insoles Medic and Destin review.
In this review we tested 3 different Remind Insoles (2 of them thoroughly) and compared them to the stock insoles of the boots we tested in and to my own custom orthotic insoles.
What Was Tested
We received 3 pairs of insoles from Remind and put them through their paces, both on and off the snow. The 3 pairs that we tested and compared were the:
- Medic Classic 5mm Mid-High Arch (size US Men’s 11-11.5)
- Medic Impact 6mm Mid-High Arch (size: US Men’s 10-10.5)
- Destin 3mm Low Arch (size: US Men’s 10-10.5)
We tested all 3 in-house, but didn’t test the Medic Classic 5mm on snow, because it was a size 11-11.5, which didn’t fit well in my 9.5 boots.
What Were they Compared to?
I tested all the insoles in my Adidas Response ADV boots, size US9.5 and tests were conducted, comparing:
In-House
- The Response ADVs stock insoles
- My Kintec Orthotics Custom Insoles
- The Destin 3mm
- The Medic Classic 5mm
- The Medic Impact 6mm
On-Snow
- The Response ADVs stock insoles
- My Kintec Orthotics Custom Insoles
- The Destin 3mm
- The Medic Impact 6mm
Note that the Response Adidas ADV already have decent shock absorption (4/5 by my ratings) to being with.
The Remind Insoles Tests
We conducted both in-house and on snow tests:
In-House Testing
This was done using the stomp test, which we also use whenever we test snowboard boots. This essentially involved placing one insole in one boot and different insole in the other boot. Stomping those boots on the ground and feeling for which one absorbed more shock than the other.
When we’re testing boots this way, it’s often very telling the sound that you hear from the different boots. This was less evident with the insoles, as we were working with exactly the same boot sole, but there was still noticeable differences in the feel, depending on which insoles were in each boot (see results below for more).

On Snow Testing
On snow we tested by first lapping the park (hitting jumps to get the best shock absorption test) and then hitting some cruddy terrain to get a feel for chatter absorption. We also tested doing ollies with flat landings, to produce the most shock we could (within reason!)

IN-HOUSE TESTING RESULTS
Stomp Test 1 Medic Impact Mid Arch 6mm
Adidas Response ADV stock insoles vs the Remind Medic Impact.
Test: Stock insoles in right foot. Medic Impact in left foot.
Results: Was actually noticeable the difference in shock feel, when doing the stomp test. Like quite noticeable. And if it’s noticeable in just a stomp test, I can imagine it would be noticeable over a whole day of snowboarding. Will see how they go in the on snow test, to see if it’s noticeable at all up there.
Stomp Test 2 Medic Classic Mid Arch 5mm
Adidas Response ADV stock insoles vs the Remind Medic Classic.
Test: Stock insoles in right foot. Medic Classic insoles in left foot.
Results: Again a big difference between the Medic Classic and the Stock insoles. Can feel a lot more vibrations and feel like my feet are touching the ground a lot more with the Response ADVs stock insoles vs the Medic Classic. But didn’t feel like they were any more or less shock absorbing than the Medic Impact. Later did a test between the Medic Impact and Medic Classic and couldn’t notice any discernable difference.
Stomp Test 3 Destin Low Arch
Adidas Response ADV stock insoles vs the Remind Destin 3mm Low-Arch – these ones are 3mm thick, so lower arch and less thick than the other ones.
Test: Stock insoles in right foot. Destin insoles in left foot.
Results: Barely noticeable between this and the Response ADV’s stock insoles. But there is some difference. They are definitely a touch more cush. But only just noticeable. You can definitely feel the ground more in the Destin than in the Medic’s.
These were much easier to get into the liner’s because of being softer rigidity – that softer rigidity is very noticeably vs the Medic’s. And the thinness of it is very noticeable too.
Vs the Response stock insole, they are a very similar thickness. Response insole actually a touch thicker looking at them. And measuring them confirms it. The Response insole 4mm vs 3mm on that one. Response insole also more rigid. The Destin is very flexible.
Stomp Test 4: Destin vs Medic Classic
Test: Destin 3mm in left foot. Medic Classic 5mm in right foot.
Results: Could feel the ground more on my left foot vs my right foot. The Medic Classic definitely the better shock absorber.
Stomp Test 5 Destin vs Medic Impact
Test: Destin 3mm in left foot. Medic Impact 6mm in right foot.
Results: Could definitely feel the ground more on my left foot vs my right foot. The Medic Impact considerably better shock absorber by a good stretch.
Stomp Test Conclusion: I found that the Destin’s provided a little better shock absorption vs the Response ADV’s stock insoles but not by that much. But the Medic Impact 6mm and the Medic Classic 5mm were considerably damper than both the Response ADV’s stock insoles and the Destin 3mm insoles.
Fit
The Destin are really easy to get in. They are really flexy vs the two Medic insoles and really flexy vs even the Response ADVs stock insoles.
The Medic Classic were the most difficult to get to fit. Part of the reason is that they are more rigid (but so was the Medic Impact) but the main reason is that they were a 11-11.5 size, which was a big big for my 9.5 snowboard boots.
The Medic Impact weren’t as easy as the Destin, as they were also quite rigid, but they were easier, by quite a lot, vs the Medic Classic, because of the sizing.
ON SNOW TEST RESULTS
I ride with custom insoles from Kintec Orthotics normally, so I did the first lap with them. Followed by the stock insoles from the Response ADV and then the Remind Insoles.
As mentioned above, I didn’t do an on snow test for the Medic Classic, because the sizing didn’t work very well in my boots.
The Medic Classic and Medic Impact were unnoticeable in difference in the stomp test, to me, so I wasn’t too concerned about not being able to test those.
Each Lap consisted of going over 4 jumps (one of them a hip) and then ollying over 2 rollers in addition to 2-3 flat ollies and riding through messy snow sections to get a feel for chatter. The same laps were completed for each lap.
Lap 1: Kintec Orthotics Custom Insoles
Lap 2: Response ADV stock insoles
Lap 3: Remind Insoles Destin
Lap 4: Remind Insoles Medic Impact
Lap 1: Kintec Orthotics Custom Insoles
This was the control test as these are the insoles I’ve been riding in for most of the season.
Lap 2: Response ADV stock insoles
Definitely felt more shock vibration on landing vs custom insoles. And in general felt chatter and everything more so in these vs my custom insoles.
Lap 3: Remind Insoles Destin
I noticed some improvement in shock absorption over the Response ADV stock insoles. It wasn’t a huge difference, but it was enough that I could notice the difference. Which means over a full day of riding or multiple days of riding, the shock reduction on the body would, I would assume, be even more.
So whilst the difference was relatively subtle, you could still notice it – and that difference would likely be multiplied over longer periods of time.
I didn’t feel like they gave any noticeable difference in arch support vs the Response ADV’s stock insoles but certainly not worse either.
They gave considerably less arch support than my custom orthotics. But that wasn’t surprising, given that the Destin are the “low arch” model and that the whole point of my custom insoles is to provide arch support! But I also felt that my custom insoles absorbed shock a touch better than the Destin.
Lap 4: Remind Insoles Medic Impact
There was a big difference between these and the Destin! These things absorb shock extremely well. Absorbed shock better than my custom insoles too, quite noticeably. Just such a damp landing in these things. And also noticed them feeling more damp for chatter just riding over messy snow.
I really thought that the difference would be noticed predominantly over the course of a day kind of thing, but you really notice it on landings and in messy snow. Quite impressed and surprised.
In terms of arch support, they give noticeably better arch support than the Destin’s too, but still not as much as my custom insoles, which is also not too surprising, since those are made specifically for my feet.
Conclusion
We performed two main tests – for the Destin 3mm and the Medic Impact 6mm (just in-house testing on the Medic Classic 5mm).
The Destin
The Destin 3mm Low Arch insoles produced a subtle increase in shock absorption in the short term vs the stock insoles from my snowboard boots (Adidas Response ADV) and no noticeable difference in arch support. These would be most suitable for those who wanted a more subtle increase in shock absorption and needed/wanted less arch support.
The Destin also come in a 5mm Impact version, which would assumably offer more shock absorption if you wanted a more shock absorbing insole in a low arch option.
If I needed a low arch option, I would go with the 5mm version as I didn’t get enough of a shock absorption increase to make them worth it, for me.
The Medic Impact
The Medic Impact 6mm provided a significant increase in shock and chatter absorption and, IMO, can really transform the level of shock absorption that you can get from your boots.
These are especially suitable for those who need more arch support and even more so for those with snowboard boots that aren’t super shock absorbing and you’re looking for more shock absorption but don’t want to have to go to new boots to get it.
They’re also a great option for those who need/want as much shock absorption as they can get (assuming med-high arch is suitable for your feet), in which case you could pair them with boots that already have good shock absorption.
Note that the Response ADV already have above average shock absorption, which makes the results of Medic Impact’s test even more impressive.
