*TOP TIER HARD/ICY SNOW OPTION

Starting off this year's list at #5 is the GNU Pro Choice. This is Jamie Anderson's competition board of choice.

Jamie Anderson's other board is the Ladies Choice (and she also has a pow board) - so what's different between the Pro Choice vs the Ladies Choice - the camber profile. The Pro Choice has GNUs C3 camber - which is pretty close to full camber. So it's a more aggressive, poppier kind of ride.

Not for the beginner and even low intermediate park rider's might have a little trouble with it - but for those high intermediate to advanced/expert park riders, this board will give back whatever you can throw at it.

It's also great for carving up the groomers, when you just feel like laying it on an edge in between park laps.

The Moodboard, like it's Bataleon counterpart at #2 below, is really lightweight and has a really playful nature to it.

It's the kind of board that puts zero limits on your creativity and is a master down the jib line and any kind of butter trick. And while it may not be that well suited to large jumps, it's a really fun board for smaller jumps and side-hits.

It turns on a dime and is ultra forgiving and just allows you to go out and try things and have fun and find your flow.

The result is a board that's different from anything Yes has produced in the past. Like #4 above and #2 below, the Menace is a playful, creative-juice inducing joy ride that will have you trying things you thought you were never capable of.

*TOP TIER HARD/ICY SNOW OPTION

Finally, in at #1, we have the YES Rival.

The Rival is a jump machine and will have you boosting off everything in sight. Yet, when you want to get buttery or take a lap down the jib line, it holds its own there too.

Even when you just want to cruise the groomers or lay down a carve, the Rival's got your back. It's too good as a park board to leave out of this category, but would be just as suited to the all-mountain freestyle category.

It's also one of the best choices going around for a freestyle board for hard/icy conditions.

FREESTYLE BOARD #1

Never Summer Women's Proto Slinger Review

Board: Never Summer Women's Proto Slinger

Flex: Medium Soft (3.5/10)

Rating: 91.3/100

Finally, in at #1, we have the women's Proto Slinger.

The men's version of the Proto Slinger has been around a few seasons now (and prior to that was the Funslinger, which was a slightly different board, but similar), so it's awesome to see a women's specific model now.

This board is made to dominate the park down both jump and jib lines - and is super buttery and playful. Equally good for seeking out sidehits as it is in the park, this board can also lay down a decent carve for how soft flexing it is.

The Proto Slinger is like the perfect combination of performance and playfulness.

FREESTYLE BOARD #5

Capita Space Metal Fantasy

Board: Capita Space Metal Fantasy

Flex: Medium-Soft (3/10)

Rating: 84.6/100

If hitting rails and boxes – or any other jib for that matter – is your thing, then the Space Metal Fantasy should be at or near the top of your list. Along with the Glider (see #4 below) it’s the best of all the women’s freestyle boards I looked at for jibbing.

It’s also, as a freestyle snowboard should be, great at riding in either direction and whilst not the top jumper in this list, is still good for jumps, especially small to medium jumps.

It's not the top board on this list in terms of the rest of the mountain, but it will get you to the park - and that's where this board comes into it's own.

It’s also the lowest priced board on this list.

FREESTYLE BOARD #2

GNU Pro Choice

Board: GNU Pro Choice

Flex: Medium (5/10)

Rating: 87.9/100

The Pro Choice, our #2 selection, is an evolution of the Ladies Choice. This is the Pro Choice's 3rd season now.

So what's different about the Pro Choice vs the Ladies Choice - the camber profile. It has GNUs C3 camber - which is pretty close to full camber. So it's a more aggressive, poppier kind of ride.

Not for the beginner and even low intermediate park rider's might have a little trouble with it - but for those high intermediate to advanced/expert park riders, this board will give back whatever you can throw at it.

It's also great for carving up the groomers, when you just feel like laying in on an edge and leaving behind those thin lines.

FREESTYLE BOARD #1

YES Rival Snowboard

Board: YES Rival

Flex: Medium (4.5/10)

Rating: 90.7/100

And finally at #1 we have the new for 2022, YES Rival.

I've been waiting for YES to bring out a women's specific park/freestyle board similar to the Jackpot for a while now. And it's finally here!

This jump machine will have you boosting off everything in sight - and when you want to get buttery or take a lap down the jib line, it holds its own there too.

Even when you just want to cruise the groomers or lay down a carve, the Rival's got your back. Long may it remain in YES' line.

Even though this list is in order you should try to pick the board that is most suited to you – anything on this list would be a great choice for riding freestyle (but you might lean more to jibs, more to jumps or prefer a stable feel or a loose feel). I hope this has helped to narrow down your options!

Check out the links under each board for more info and prices.

FREESTYLE BOARD #5=

CAPiTA Space Metal Fantasy

Board: Capita Space Metal Fantasy

Price: $399

Flex: Medium-Soft (3/10)

Rating: 83.5/100

Arbor Cadence Camber

Board: Arbor Cadence Camber

Price: $399

Flex: Medium (5/10)

Starting off the list in 5th= we have Arbor's Cadence Camber.

If the jump line is your forte, then the Cadence camber will treat you well there - whether for small, medium or large jumps.

It's the weakest jibber on this list, but it's one of the best options for jumps - and if you like to throw in some carves on the groomers every now and then, or on the way to the park.

There is also a Cadence Rocker - same as the Cadence Camber but with a rocker profiles (as the name suggests). It's also a good option - but has different strengths and weaknesses. I have included the scores for both below.

GNU Pro Choice

Board: GNU Pro Choice

Price: $569

Rating: 86.3/100

The Pro Choice, our #2 selection, is an evolution of the Ladies Choice.

The Ladies Choice still exists, but I have decided to move it to my all-mountain-freestyle category instead, where it will most likely make that top 5, once I update that list.

So what's different about the Pro Choice - the camber profile. It has GNUs C3 camber - which is pretty close to full camber. So it's a more aggressive, poppier kind of ride. Not for the beginner and even intermediate rider's might have a little trouble with it - but for those advanced park riders, this board will give back whatever you can throw at it.

It's also great for carving outside the park. The biggest downside is that it only comes in one size - 148.5. But if that's a suitable size for you and you're advanced freestyle rider, this a great choice.

Burton Rewind

Board: Burton Rewind

Price: $469

Flex: Medium-Soft (4/10)

Rating: 82.8/100

The first board on this list, coming in at #5=, is Burton’s Rewind.

The Rewind is well suited to riding the park, being more than adequate for both the jump line and jib line, though it performs best for jumps.

It's soft enough to jib and butter but also stiff enough to provide a reasonable landing platform and there's enough camber in there to help with both pop and stability.

It can also tackle the rest of the mountain, so you can throw in some carves, or natural hits on the way to the park.

FREESTYLE BOARD #4

Lib Tech Skate Banana

Board: Lib Tech Skate Banana

Price: $499

Flex: Medium-Soft (4/10)

Rating: 85.0/100

In at #4 we have the Lib Tech Skate Banana.

Lib Tech don’t do men’s and women’s boards but they do make some of their boards in women’s sizes. The Skate Banana is one of those. It comes is a 145N (N for narrow), 148N and 151N. If you’re a woman with longer feet, then, assuming your specs are otherwise suited to the longer sizes, you might also fit on one of the men’s sizes.

The Skate Banana has been a freestyle staple for years and for good reason. If you’re looking for a loose, playful, surfy, ride that’s great on jibs, great for butters and can also perform well on jumps, particularly small to medium jumps, then the Skate Banana could be the board for you.

The Minx is one of the best jibbers on this list. But it’s not just a jib machine. It’s also great riding in both directions, great with ground tricks and sweet over jumps – particularly small to medium jumps.

Not only that, it can handle the mountain outside of the park too, if you feel the need - even if it's not going to be a bomber.

Arbor Cadence Camber

If the jump line is your forte, then the Cadence camber will treat you well there - whether for small, medium or large jumps.

It's the weakest jibber on this list, but it's also the best option if you like to throw in some carves on the groomers every now and then, or on the way to the park.

The Cadence Rocker is also a great option that has different strengths and weaknesses. I have included the scores for both below.

FREESTYLE BOARD #1

GNU Ladies Choice

Board: GNU Ladies Choice

Price: $569

Flex: Medium-soft (4.5/10)

Rating: 90.6/100

The Ladies Choice is not only the top Freestyle snowboard on this website but it’s also been a Transworld Snowboarding Goodwood Women’s Park Board award recipient for the 2015, 2016, 2017 & 2018 models!

It's been at the top of this list every year I've produced it (2016, 2017, 2018, 2019).

If you’ve ever seen Jamie Anderson ride then you’ll know what this board is capable of.

It’s the best jumper on this list and the best suited to large jumps as well as small and medium jumps. It’s also the best for anyone wanting their freestyle board to be able to ride the rest of the mountain well.

It could just as easily be categorized as an all-mountain-freestyle snowboard but I’ve chosen to leave it in this category as it’s freestyle capabilities are too good to leave it out.

Over to You

Even though this list is in order you should try to pick the board that is most suited to you – anything on this list would be a great choice for riding freestyle (but you might lean more to jibs, more to jumps or prefer a stable feel or a loose feel). I hope this has helped to narrow down your options!

NOTE: This is a past seasons top 5. For the latest season's Top 5 Women's Freestyle list, check out the link below:

Top 5 Women's Freestyle Snowboards (Latest Season)

2017-18

best womens freestyle snowboards

Out of 16 women’s freestyle boards that I looked at:

  • The average score was 81.7/100
  • The highest score was 90.3/100 (see below)
  • The lowest score was 73.3/100
  • The average price was $399

Women’s Freestyle Board #5

Capita Space Metal Fantasy 2018Board: Capita Space Metal Fantasy

Price: $369

Flex: Medium-Soft (3/10)

Rating: 83.5/100

The first board on this list, coming in at #5, is Capita’s Space Metal Fantasy.

If hitting rails and boxes – or any other jib for that matter – is your thing, then the Space Metal Fantasy should be at or near the top of your list. Apart from the Socialite (see # 4 below) it’s the best of all the women’s freestyle boards I looked at for jibbing.

It’s also, as a freestyle snowboard should be, great at riding in either direction and whilst not the top jumper in this list, is still great for jumps, especially small to medium jumps.

The Space Metal Fantasy has a more stable feel underfoot, as opposed to the loose feel that some freestyle rides have (e.g. the Skate Banana and Socialite further down this list). It’s also the lowest priced board on this list.

Women’s Freestyle Board #4

Burton Socialite 2018Board: Burton Socialite

Price: $469

Flex: Soft (2/10)

Rating: 84.1/100

Next, coming in at #4, is the Burton Socialite.

The Socialite, like the #5 board on this list, is at its best when hitting the jib line in the park. It’s great for butters and jibs. In terms of jumps its more at home on smaller jumps – but those are definitely something you can hit on this board.

This is the softest board on this list and has a super thin core that allows you to easily butter and feel everything underfoot.

Women’s Freestyle Board #3

Niche Minx 2018Board: Niche Minx

Price: $419

Flex: Medium Soft (4/10)

Rating: 86.9/100

Coming in at #3 is the Niche Minx.

The Minx is one of the best jibbers on this list. But it’s not just a jib machine. It’s also great riding in both directions, great with ground tricks, sweet over jumps – particularly small to medium jumps

Not only that, it can handle the mountain outside of the park too, if you feel the need and you can definitely take it in the pipe too.

It’s the most stable feeling board on this list too so if you prefer a more stable (as opposed to loose) feel to your freestyle riding, this would be a good choice for you. I’d say in order of most loose to most stable (on this list) it would be Skate Banana, Socialite, Ladies Choice, Space Metal Fantasy, Minx.

Women’s Freestyle Board #2

Lib Tech Skate Banana 2018Board: Lib Tech Skate Banana

Price: $499

Flex: Medium-Soft (4/10)

Rating: 86.9/100

In at #2 we have the Lib Tech Skate Banana.

If you’re looking for a loose, playful, surfy, ride that’s great on jibs, great for butters and can also perform well on jumps, particularly small to medium jumps, then the Skate Banana could be the board for you.

gnu-b-nice-asym-btx-2017Board: GNU B-Nice Asym

Price: $419

Flex: Medium-Soft

Rating: 81.0/100

The first board on the list, coming in at #5, is the GNU B-Nice Asym.

The B-Nice Asym features a true twin shape, a centered stance and asymmetry which, ironically makes your ride feel more symmetrical! All of this adds up to a board which rides switch like it does in your normal stance – and it also makes turning feel more natural and intuitive.

It’s also decent on jumps and jibs and can handle the rest of the mountain outside of the park for when you feel for it.

You can also get it in a non-asymmetrical version, which is a little bit cheaper – but definitely worth a few extra dollars to get that asym tech.

Capita’s Space Metal Fantasy is our #3 women’s freestyle board.

If hitting rails and boxes – or any other jib for that matter – is your thing, then the Space Metal Fantasy should be at or near the top of your list. It’s the best of all the women’s freestyle boards I looked at for jibbing.

It’s also, as a freestyle snowboard should be, great at riding in either direction and over jumps.

rome-heist-2017Board: Rome Heist

Price: $419

Flex: Medium-Soft

Rating: 83.2/100

In at #2 we have the Rome Heist.

The Heist may fall behind the 1st two boards on this list when it comes to jibbing, but it more than makes up for it on jumps. So if the jump line is more your thing, then the Heist is a great option.

The Heist is also the best at carving in this list – so if you like to through down the occasional carve, then it will be the best at that in this list – whilst still be being predominantly freestyle oriented.

With a massive 91.8/100, the #1 rated GNU Ladies Choice absolutely blows away the competition.

In fact this is the biggest gap that I’ve seen between the #2 and #1 boards in all the top 5’s I’ve done (and there are a quite a few of them on this website).

The Ladies Choice is not only the top Freestyle snowboard on this website but it’s also been a Transworld Snowboarding Goodwood Women’s Park Board award recipient for the 2015, 2016 and 2017 models.
