Of the 15 boots that I rated as women’s freestyle boots:
WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BOOT #5
Boot: Vans Women's Hi-Standard OG
- US
- CA
- UK/EU
Lacing System: Traditional Lace
Flex: Medium-Soft (4/10)
Rating: 85.1/100
Starting off the list in #5, we have the Vans Women's Hi-Standard OG.
This is the softest equal, and least expensive boot on this list. It's a great option for anyone looking for a playful, softer boot, but not too soft, for casual riding and playful freestyle riding. Also great for anyone on a smaller budget.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BOOT #4
Boot: Ride Hera
- US
- CA
- UK/EU
Lacing System: Single Boa with the second Boa working on the internal ankle harness
Flex: Medium (5/10)
Rating: 86.3/100
Next up, at #4, we have the Ride Hera boots.
The Hera provide great heel hold and comfort and are a great option for freestyle or all-mountain-freestyle riding and have virtually no weaknesses across the board (or should I say across the boot! – sorry bad joke 😉 )
The Hera features an internal ankle harness that is controlled by the boa on the side of the boot (or more accurately it's on the tongue and pulls that into the ankle - see video for more explanation on that). This is super convenient for locking that heel down on the go, without having to open your boot up to do it. It does lack the ability to adjust the upper and lower sections of the outer boot independently, but if you're OK with that, this is a very good option.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BOOT #3
Boot: K2 Cosmo
- US
- CA
Lacing System: Traditional Lacing with internal Boa
Flex: Medium-Soft (4/10)
Rating: 87.5/100
Coming in at #3, we have K2's Cosmo snowboard boots.
The Cosmo feature great adjustability through their traditional lacing and great heel hold from the Boa, which works on an internal harness which wraps around your ankle and locks the heel into the boot.
They have a nice medium-soft flex for playful laps in the park or playful riding all-over the mountain but features a quality construction that's not typically found on softer boots.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BOOT #2
Boot: Burton Ritual LTD Boa
- US
- CA
- UK/EU
Lacing System: Double Boa
Flex: Medium (5/10)
Rating: 91.7/100
In at #2 are Burton’s Ritual LTD Boa snowboard boots.
The Ritual LTD Boa are the most pricey boots on this list – but they are also designed to last a long time, and retain their flex for longer, so might end up being a better financial investment in the long run.
They're also the most comfortable in this list (assuming they fit your feet well - comfort can be quite subjective) and are super light.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BOOT #1
Boot: Vans Encore Pro
- US
- CA
- UK/EU
Lacing System: Double Boa
Flex: Medium (5 out of 10)
Rating: 94.0/100
Grabbing the #1 spot are the Vans Encore Pro.
The Encore Pro achieve a great balance between board feel and shock absorption, making them a great option for riding the park. But they also have good response, especially for their flex, so you can ride them all over the mountain (and of course ride them freestyle over the whole mountain).
They also benefit from some great heel hold and have enough traction to let you the hike the park (or even the backcountry), and stay upright in an icy car park.
If you're looking for a boot that's awesome for the park but also versatile enough to be the only boot you need, then the Encore Pro should be on your radar.

These are the softest boots in this list, so they're great for anyone who wants that surfier, looser feel for their freestyle boots.
But beyond that they are also super lush (appropriate name!) and are solid across all the categories I ranked for.
They're not the cheapest boots, but if you've got the cash to spend they are arguably the highest quality boot on the market with a soft flex. So, if you like a softer flexing boot but don't want to skimp on the quality, the Lush are worth looking at.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BOOT #3
Boot: 32 Women’s Lashed Double Boa
Price: $269
Lacing System: Double Boa
Flex: Medium (6/10)
Rating: 87.6/100
Coming in at #3 are 32’s Women’s Lashed Double Boa boots.
These boots are super comfortable and have great heel hold, courtesy of their double boa lacing system - perfect for those who struggle to get their heels locked down or for those that just like the ease of double boa.
They also have great shock absorption which adds to that comfort – but more importantly helps to absorb the shock on landings and absorb chatter.
This is the double boa version of the Lashed – you can also get a traditional lace version. The score for the traditional lacing version is included below.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BOOT #2
Boot: Burton Ritual LTD
Price: $399
Lacing System: Speed Lace
Flex: Medium (5/10)
Rating: 87.6/100
Coming in at #2 are Burton’s Ritual LTD snowboard boots.
The Ritual LTD are the most pricey boots on this list – but they are also designed to last a long time, and retain their flex for longer, so might end up being a better financial investment in the long run.
But if you are interested in these boots but don’t want to spend this much in one chunk, then the significantly cheaper Burton Ritual (non-LTD version) are almost as good and still scored 85.9/100 on this rating system.
They're also the most comfortable in this list (assuming they fit your feet well) and are super light.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BOOT #1
Boot: Vans Encore Pro
Price: $259
Lacing System: Double Boa
Flex: Medium (5 out of 10)
Rating: 90.6/100
Grabbing the #1 spot are the Vans Encore Pro.
Whilst the Encore Pro are technically new for 2019, they are essentially the evolution of the Vans Women's Aura, renamed.
The Encore Pro achieve a great balance between board feel and shock absorption, making them a great option for riding the park. But they also have great response, especially for their flex, so you can ride them all of the mountain (and of course ride them freestyle over the whole mountain).
They also benefit from some great heel hold and have enough traction to let you the hike the park (or even the backcountry), and stay upright in an icy car park.
If you're looking for a board that's awesome for the park but also versatile enough to be the only boot you need, then the Encore Pro should be on your radar.

Women’s Freestyle Boots #4
Boot: 32 Women’s Lashed Double Boa
Price: $269
Lacing System: Double Boa
Flex: Medium-Soft
Rating: 85.6/100
Coming in at #4 are 32’s Women’s Lashed boots.
These boots are super comfortable, have great adjustability and offer really decent response for their flex.
They also have great shock absorption which adds to that comfort – but more importantly helps to absorb the shock on landings and absorb chatter.
This is the double boa version of the Lashed – you can also get a traditional lace version. The score for the traditional lacing version is included below.

Women’s Freestyle Boots #3
Boot: Ride Hera
Price: $259
Lacing System: Double Boa
Flex: Medium (5/10)
Rating: 86.2/100
Next up, at #3, we have the Ride Hera boots.
The Hera provide a great combination of feel, response and shock absorption – that and providing great heel hold and comfort, they are a great option for freestyle or all-mountain-freestyle riding and have virtually no weaknesses across the board (or should I say across the boot! – sorry bad joke 😉 )

Women’s Freestyle Boots #2
Boot: Thirty Two Session
Price: $259
Lacing System: Traditional Lacing with internal Boa
Flex: Medium-Soft (4.5/10)
Rating: 86.8/100
In the #2 spot, we have Thirty Twos second offering in this list, the 32 Sessions (and they would have had more too if this was a top 10 – they’ve got a wide range of boots and a lot of them are freestyle oriented).
The Sessions offer the best of both worlds from Traditional Lacing and Boa – with an internal harness controlled by a boa coil to hold your heel down and traditional lacing for the outer-boot for the ultimate adjustability.
That and having a nice cush sole and with great board feel and a nice flex for freestyle riding, the Sessions fit the bill and earn spot #2.

Women’s Freestyle Boots #1
Boot: Vans Women’s Aura
Price: $259
Lacing System: Double Boa
Flex: Medium-Soft (4.5 out of 10)
Rating: 90.2/100
Grabbing the #1 spot are the Vans Aura Women’s boots.
These boots are super comfortable and have great shock absorption so that you can land those tricks all day.
They also benefit from some great heel hold and have enough traction to let you the hike the park, and stay upright in an icy car park.
They also provide great board feel and are highly adjustable. The side boa adjusts the lower section of the boot and the tongue boa adjusts the upper section. This allows you to get a customized fit.

Women’s Freestyle Boots #5
Boot: Burton Mint
Price: $199
Lacing System: Speed Lace
Flex: Medium-Soft (3/10)
Rating: 83.3/100
Coming in at # 5 are Burton’s Mint boots.
Despite having the least amount of shock absorption in this list, the Mint’s still manage to rate well and that’s down to them being really comfortable and seriously adjustable so you can get the right fit and feel.

Women’s Freestyle Boots #4
Boot: Burton Starstruck Boa
Price: $219
Lacing System: Single Boa
Flex: Medium-Soft (3/10)
Rating: 83.9/100
At #4 we have another pair of Burton boots – the Starstruck boa.
The biggest downside of the Starstruck’s is their lack of adjustability. THis limitation is due to the single boa system used. However, if your feet fit the boot well, this shouldn’t be too big an issue.
Outside of that the Starstruck’s have great shock absorption, great heel hold, decent response and are really comfortable.
If they incorporated a double boa system, these boots would score even higher in this list (but the price would go up too).

Women’s Freestyle Boots #3
Boot: Vans Women’s Encore
Price: $199
Lacing System: Single Boa
Flex: Medium-Soft
Rating: 86.2/100
Next up, at #3, we have the Vans Encore (women’s version).
You pretty much can’t go wrong with these suckers for freestyle riding.
They are super comfortable and have that nice softer flex that is perfect for tweaking grabs, hitting jibs in the park and providing forgiveness for those various landings off small jumps, jibs and ground tricks.
And add to that their great shock absorption and you can land those tricks all day in comfort.
They also have the best traction of any boot on this list so if you like to hike the park you might appreciate that feature.
Like the Burton Starstruck, I’d like to see the Women’s Encore with a double boa system so that you can individually adjust the upper and lower sections of the boots. If they had that then these boots would likely be even higher on this list.

Women’s Freestyle Boots #2
Boot: 32 Women’s Lashed FT
Price: $249
Lacing System: Speed Lacing
Flex: Medium-Soft
Rating: 89.7/100
Coming in at #3 are 32’s Women’s Lashed boots.
These boots are just about the perfect freestyle boot for women.
They are super comfortable, have great adjustability and offer really good response for riding the rest of the mountain when you feel like getting out of the park – or if you like to ride freestyle on the trails.
They also have great shock absorption which adds to that comfort – but more importantly helps to absorb the shock on landings.
There are 3 different versions of the Lashed. This version is the Speed Lace (Fast Track) version. You can also get a traditional lace version and a boa version. The scores for each of the versions are shown below.

Women’s Freestyle Boots #1
Boot: Vans Women’s Aura
Price: $249
Lacing System: Traditional Lace
Flex: Medium-Soft (4.5 out of 10)
Rating: 91.4/100
Grabbing the #1 spot are the Vans Aura Women’s boots.
These boots are super comfortable and have great shock absorption so that you can land those tricks all day.
They also benefit from some great heel hold and have enough traction to let you the hike the park.
But what sets these apart from other BOA boots in this list is that they have a double boa system – so they are also highly adjustable. The side boa adjusts the lower section of the boot and the tongue boa adjusts the upper section. This allows you to get a customized fit.
Especially great if you like to loosen the upper section for extra tweakability in the park and then tighten it up for more response over the rest of the mountain.
Check out the score breakdown for the Auras in the table below

Over to You….
Note: These boots are for those freestyle riders who like a playful ride – so the rider who likes it casual, playful and likes to hit jibs, do presses, grabs, small to medium jumps and general ground tricks.
For those who like their freestyle more extreme (large jumps and the likes) you may want to go with a stiffer flexing boot.
Thanks for reading and I hope this post has helped you to choose the right boots for you.
