To make this list more useful I have broken this list down into four sections and this includes:
- The Top 5 Women’s Insulated Snowboarding Jackets
- The Top 5 Women’s Non-Insulated Snowboarding Jackets
- The Top 5 Women’s Snowboarding Jackets between $200 & $300
- The Top 5 Women’s Snowboarding Jackets for less than $200
O.k. let’s get into the lists.
This list is for the 2016-17 season, though you may still be able to find some (and at a good discount) of them – and some will have more recent models with the same name.
The Top 5 Women’s Insulated Snowboarding Jackets
If you’re someone who runs cold – or if you tend to ride in super cold conditions, then these jackets might be for you. Also for anyone who wants their jacket to do the insulating and doesn’t want to worry too much about layering underneath.
Note: These are the top jackets (assessed for waterproofing, breathability and functionality) that also have insulation – but the amount of or the type of insulation hasn’t been assessed.
Insulated Jacket #5
Jacket Name: Volcom Bow Insulated Gore-Tex Jacket
Price: $290
Type: Insulated
Level of Insulation: 80g (low-loft insulation)
Waterproofing: Gore-Tex
Breathability: Gore-Tex
There is really very little difference in terms of performance of the 5 jackets here. So, you’re decision will ultimately come down to the jacket you like the look of the most and how much insulation you want.

Type: Insulated
Level of Insulation: 800 down fill (down fill ranges from around 300 to 900 with 900 being the warmest)
Waterproofing: Gore-Tex
Breathability: Gore-Tex
You certainly pay for it with this jacket but you also get about the warmest, driest jacket you can think of. If you run really cold or venture into some really cold conditions, and money is no issue, then put this on the list.

Something that’s equivalent but with less insulation (and less of a price-tag) would be the:
- Burton AK 2L Embark Gore-Tex, $484, Insulation = 60g

The number 1 jacket here also happens to be pretty reasonably priced – bonus!
The Top 5 Women’s Non-Insulated Snowboarding Jackets
If you prefer your jacket to be a shell – something that maximizes focus on waterproofing and being breathable – and you want to be able to do your own insulating with layers and you can use your jacket for spring/warm weather riding as well, without over-heating, then these might be more your style.
This wasn’t as easy a task as I thought it would be. It seems that a majority of women’s snowboarding jackets have some sort of insulation included. So, some jackets have been included here that have a lining – there is no filler so I guess technically they’re not insulated but also technically not a “shell”.
Non-Insulated Jacket #5
Jacket Name: Roxy Jetty 3 in 1
Price: $199
Type: Non-Insulated (when you want it to be)
Waterproofing: 10,000mm
Breathability: 10,000g
Whilst this is the lowest rated in this list, it is the most versatile and is really an insulated and a non-insulated jacket. So, you can taylor your outerwear depending on the temperature. The Roxy Jetty 3 in 1 comes with a removable fleece liner that you can choose to use or not use – or use on it’s own without the shell if you want.

Jacket Name: Volcom Ship Stretch Pullover Anorak
Price: $210
Type: Non-Insulated (lining)
Waterproofing: 15,000mm
Breathability: 15,000g
If you want something non-insulated that will give you great waterproofing and breathability but will also be a little bit easier on the wallet than the final 2 in this list, then the Volcon Ship Stretch Pullover might be your thing.
Note that this is a pullover jacket.

If you’re looking for the ultimate in waterproofing and want to control your temperature through base layers and mid-layers – then this is the shell that will deliver it – provided of course that you don’t mind paying for it.

There are also a couple of other Burton AK Gore-Tex jackets that are equal with this – they were too similar to this jacket, in terms of performance, to warrant them taking up space in the other spots.
These jackets are:
- Burton AK 2L Blade Gore-Tex, $359, Insulation = Lining
- Burton AK 2L Elevation Anorak Gore-Tex, $339, Insulation = Lining (pullover)
