Below I have chosen what I think are the best snowboards you can buy at a price that won’t break the bank.
Because everyone needs a different type of snowboard I will be providing the following:

- Best cheap all-mountain snowboard
- Best cheap aggressive all-mountain snowboard

How Each Board was Chosen
The snowboard chosen isn’t necessarily the cheapest but the best value for money but has to be at least a good bit cheaper than the average price of boards in the category.
Under each category I will show:
- the average cost of boards in that category
- the cheapest board I found in that category; and
- the reasons why I chose the board I chose
All prices shown in USD. Note that this post covers men’s snowboards – for the best cheap women’s snowboards check out the link below.
BEST CHEAP FREESTYLE SNOWBOARD

Board: Slash Happy Place
Price: $399
SnowboardingProfiles.com Freestyle Rating Score : 85.7/100
FREESTYLE SNOWBOARDS CATEGORY STATS |
Number of freestyle/jib snowboards looked at: | 38
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $319
Average price of freestyle snowboards: | $442
Average Rating Score: | 80.8/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The Slash Happy Place is an awesome freestyle deck in its own right, before even taking price into account (ranked 5th/38 in my Freestyle snowboards list). It rates way above the average score in this category but costs a good $43 less than the average price.
Yes there are cheaper freestyle snowboards – but in terms of value for money you can’t go past the Happy Place.
The average score for the 13 boards that cost $399 or less was 78.8. The Happy Place scored way above that – the next closest in score for boards under $399 was the YES Basic, which was a close second place (84.6 points | $499) and then the Burton Kilroy Process (81.9 points | $399), which is also a great cheap option. A great jib specialist option is the Rossignol Sawblade ($379, scored 81.3).
BEST CHEAP All-MOUNTAIN-FREESTYLE SNOWBOARD

Board: Capita Outerspace Living
Price: $399
SnowboardingProfiles.com All-Mtn-Freestyle Rating Score : 86.0/100
ALL-MTN-FREESTYLE SNOWBOARDS CATEGORY STATS |
Number of all-mtn-freestyle snowboards looked at: | 23
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $319
Average price of all-mtn-freestyle snowboards: | $473
Average Rating Score: | 79.7/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
This was a no brainer. It’s my 6th overall pick for all-mountain-freestyle snowboards (not taking price into account), and it’s $74 cheaper than the average snowboard in this category.
So scoring well above the average and a price well below the average, and ranking above a number of boards that cost a good bit more than it, the Outerspace Living is the obvious choice here.
The next closest in terms of value for money, IMO, would be the Endeavor BOD, coming in at $449 ($24 below the average) and with 81.5 points.
BEST CHEAP All-MOUNTAIN SNOWBOARD

Board: YES Libre
Price: $369
SnowboardingProfiles.com All-Mountain Rating Score : 84.0/100
ALL-MOUNTAIN SNOWBOARDS CATEGORY STATS |
Number of all-mountain snowboards looked at: | 34
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $299
Average price of all-mountain snowboards: | $495
Average Rating Score: | 81.8/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
Another option that was pretty obvious for this category, the YES Libre.
It's a massive $126 less than the average price – but it still scores more than the average score. If your budget is tight but you still want a quality all-mountain snowboard, this is the go-to, IMO.
Honorable mention to the Slash Brainstorm ($449 and 88.3/100), YES Typo ($449 and 87.7/100) and the Arbor Element Black Camber ($419 and 82.7/100).
BEST CHEAP AGGRESSIVE All-MTN-FREESTYLE SNOWBOARD

Board: Capita DOA
Price: $459
SnowboardingProfiles.com Aggressive All-Mtn-Free Rating Score : 86.2/100
AGGRESSIVE ALL-MTN-FREESTYLE CATEGORY STATS |
Number of aggressive all-mtn-freestyle snowboards looked at: | 17
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $459
Average price of aggressive all-mtn-freestyle snowboards: | $541
Average Rating Score: | 85.0/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The DOA (Defenders of Awesome) is more than $80 cheaper than the average priced board in this category (and the cheapest in this category too) – and was my #7 ranked Aggressive All-Mountain-Freestyle snowboard, with a score above the average score.
This one was a close run thing, with the Niche Crux ($499 | 92.0 points), YES Ghost ($499 | 89.1) and Lib Tech Hot Knife ($499 | 88.5) all deserving a mention here too. All $42 less than the average price, but all above the average score.
BEST CHEAP AGGRESSIVE All-MOUNTAIN SNOWBOARD

Board: Jones Frontier
Price: $479
SnowboardingProfiles.com Aggressive All-Mtn Rating Score : 83.1/100
AGGRESSIVE ALL-MOUNTAIN CATEGORY STATS |
Number of aggressive all-mtn snowboards looked at: | 19
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $399
Average price of aggressive all-mtn snowboards: | $590
Average Rating Score: | 82.0/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
Whilst not the most aggressive, aggressive all-mountain board going around, it's still something you can get aggressive on. And at a price over $110 cheaper than the average but with a score above the average, the Jones Frontier (formerley the Jones Explorer) is the standout when it came to this category.
It’s the 3rd cheapest overall that I looked at in this category and was also ranked 7th best.
In a category that has a very high average price, there aren't too many cheap options as such, but the Capita Supernova ($499 | 83.7 points) was a close second to the frontier. The Slash ATV is another good cheaper option (ranked #1 in my aggressive all-mountain list) at $529 and with a score of 91.0/100.
BEST CHEAP FREERIDE SNOWBOARD

Board: Burton Skeleton Key
Price: $499
SnowboardingProfiles.com Freeride Rating Score : 86.4/100
FREERIDE SNOWBOARD CATEGORY STATS |
Number of freeride snowboards looked at: | 39
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $379
Average price of freeride snowboards: | $577
Average Rating Score: | 81.4/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The Skeleton Key (ranking #10 in my Top 10 Freeride boards list) comes in at more than $75 cheaper the average price for this category, but has a score well above average.
It's softer flexing for a freeride board, so if you wanted something stiffer, then the Flight Attendant ($549 | 89.1 points) is a great option. $549 may not sound cheap but is still $28 cheaper than the average for this cateogry.
Other honorable mentions to the YES Hybrid ($549 | 87.5 points) and the Salomon Super 8 ($449 | 80.4 points).
BEST CHEAP BEGINNER SNOWBOARD

Board: Nitro Prime
Price: $299
SnowboardingProfiles.com Beginner Rating Score : 94/100
BEGINNER SNOWBOARD CATEGORY STATS |
Number of beginner snowboards looked at: | 39
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $299
Average price of beginner snowboards: | $426
Average Rating Score: | 86.8/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The Prime is the equal cheapest I looked at for this category and ranks 6th overall in my top 15 beginner snowboards list. It's a nice $127 cheaper than the average price. A steal for that first board to progress on.
Price is taken into account for the scores for beginner boards – so this is somewhat skewed for this category.
Over to You
