The following 10 are what we consider to the best women’s snowboard pants currently on the market.
This list has been updated for the 2023-2024 season.
As per Snowboarding Profiles tradition each pair of pants has been given a score out of 100 and that score is broken down into several different categories.
Compared to other pants
Of 37 women's snow pants that we rated:
Price hasn't been taken into account, except that we didn't include anything over $400 - and when there are 2 or more pants on the same score, the lower priced pants get the higher spot.
Style, fit durability and weight also haven’t been taken into account.
O.k. let’s take a look at the top 10.
WOMEN'S SNOWBOARD PANTS #10
Pant: 686 Geode Thermagraph
-
CA
Score: 89/100
Insulation: 140g | Thermagraph Insulation System (85% recycled)
Waterproofing: 20,000mm
Breathability: 15,000g
Seams: Fully Taped
Fit: Regular (with articulation)
Starting off the list at #10, we have 686's Geode Thermagraph.
The Geode Thermagraph is one of 5 pants in this list that are insulated. These feature the most insulation in the list, so if you run cold or ride in cold environments often and don't want to layer underneath or still want to layer when it's super cold, then these are worth looking at.
The insulation is strategically placed to warm the areas that need it the most and not overheat other areas - and allows for breathability through the right areas, so you don't end up getting too sweaty or too hot.
Asides from the insulation, the Geode Thermagraph has really good waterproofing to keep you dry and decent breathability, as well as plenty of features to help them function as snowboard pants, like gaiters and jacket-to-pant connections (to help keep the snow out).

CA
Score: 89/100
Insulation: Shell (none)
Waterproofing: 20,000mm
Breathability: 20,000g
Seams: Fully Taped
Fit: Relaxed
Next up we have the Trew Gear McKenzie snowboard pants.
The McKenzie is the first of 5 pants in this list that is a shell - i.e. non-insulated. This is great for those that want a waterproof shell that can be used on its own for warm days and something you can layer underneath of for colder days.
The McKenzie features great waterproofing, helped by the fully taped seems and 20,000mm rated fabric, and breathability. Along with some great functionality, including plenty of pocket space.
They are also made from 200D-320D weave, which is a stronger than usual weave, particularly for the price point. This should help with its strength against snags (e.g. on trees) and with its durability.
The McKenzie is also the cheapest shell (non-insulated) pants in this list and the 3rd cheapest overall.

In at #8 is the L1 Quin snowboard pants.
Like every pair of pants on this list, the Quin has really good waterproofing and breathability (we wouldn't feature pants in this list without that, as we see these two things as being critical to a good pair of snowboard pants).
They also have all the functionality that we test for, including gaiters, venting, jacket-to-pants connections and plenty of pockets.
They feature some light insulation, which is focused around the seat and the knees of the pants. The Quin are the lowest priced pants in this list.

They are highly functional as snowboard pants, including Volcom's patented Zip Tech jacket-to-pant connection system. This allows you to zip together your jacket and pants to ensure that no snow gets inside your pants and also helps stop cold air getting to your lower back, when your jacket rides up.
They have a slimmer regular fit, that Volcom label "Standard". They are slimmer through the thighs knees and are contoured. Not as slim as slim, but slimmer than relaxed (which is slimmer than loose/baggy), if that makes sense!

Like the two above, the Aston is a shell offering with all the benefits of Gore-Tex and Volcom's Zip tech, along with other great functionality.
However, they are a slimmer fitting option than #3 and #4 above. If you prefer a slimmer fit, then these might be more your style. They are also a little cheaper than the two above. They're still not slim-slim (like #1 below), so still enough room to layer underneath, but a slimmer fit for sure.

Hello there! 🙂
Are there any more stretchy options?
Do you find that many girls prefer a stretchy pant or is it not an issue because most are designed to give in the right spots?
Does Gore-Tex come in a stretchy option? Or is that not possible?
Because I no longer wear anything anymore that doesn’t stretch, so I’m hesitant to fork out money for pants that will annoy me because they don’t stretch, but I want to buy the best snowpants out there so I’ll never have to buy them again 🙂 (I’m not a big skier/snowboarder but I’m always freezing and I’d like to get out more in the winter and I think the right gear will encourage me to do so….)
Thanks ! 🙂

Hi Emily
The scores here haven’t taken into account stretchiness.
In terms of other stretchy options. I believe that the Burton Gloria are stretchy and the Volcom Species Stretch.
You can get stretchy pants that are Gore-Tex. The Burton AK 2L Summit are stretchy – if you’re willing to pay the price-tag on those, then they would be great option for you I think.
Typically speaking snowboard pants are designed to allow you to move well. I’ve never had snowboard pants that are stiff or unflexible – but if you want to be sure that they’re stretchy, then I would go for something that specifically states that they’re stretchy. There are the 3 I mentioned here but there will be a lot of others – but if you also want Gore-Tex, then the Burton AK 2L Summit are great options, IMO.
Hope this helps

The Gore-Tex Gloria Burton are stretchy. They are low rise, and run long for me but that’s the look. Very comfortable.
