This week’s pro rider gear profile features Emilien Badoux.
Emilien is a Swiss pro rider for Nidecker. His professional career has been going since 1995 – and has now spanned over 2 decades. Starting out mostly competing in half pipe, Emilien evolved into a freeride competitor, culminating in the world championship in 2014.
The following is a great sum up of Emilien’s snowboard journey.

Hi Emilien, thanks for taking part in the interview. First question. How long have you been competing professionally in snowboarding?
15 years.
What discipline(s) do you compete in?
Half pipe and freeride
Who was your snowboard idol growing up?
Terje and Nicolas Müller
What was your favorite video part over the years?
The garden was a revelation!!
Snowboarding Profiles is a gear site, so that’s what we care most about here – how important do think it is to get your gear right?
It’s improving your snowboarding to have the right gear!
And for those young riders out there aspiring to be professional snowboarders, what do you consider the most important thing to being successful? Practice? Belief? Desire? Confidence? Gear? Good coach? Good physical shape? Likely a combination of the above, but what would be the single most important thing in your eyes?
The talent and style is the most important but if you want to be the best you need to work as well on your physical and mental with a coach.
Getting back to gear, what do You think is the most important part of your equipment to get right? Snowboard? Bindings? Boots? Outerwear? Safety Equipment? And what would be your 2nd and 3rd choices as to what’s most important?
First are the boots because it’s so important to feel good with your feet. 2 is the snowboard the shape and size need to be adapted of the condition. 3 Is the quality of your google because your vision is the most important!
In terms of the snowboard, what do you think is the most important factor or factors – the thing that can make the biggest difference to the feel and performance of the board? Camber Profile? Length? Width? Sidecut? Effective Edge? Flex? Weight? Base? Graphic
They are all important flex, camber, width, weight and base.
What gear is your go to right now? Board? Bindings? Boots?
