Finally, in at #1, we have Union's Women's Ultra bindings.

The Women's Ultra feature an almost unbelievable combo of shock absorption and board feel, that will have you riding every feature and hitting every side hit you can find.

Their slow speed response also makes them great for setting up tricks and they even have decent carveability for when you want to lay down some carves on the groomers.

Just all round, high quality bindings, highly suited to riding freestyle, but would do almost just as well as all-mountain bindings.

They are a good quality binding with no weaknesses across all the factors we rated for. They are also the lowest priced bindings in this list.

They are a little stiffer than the likes of the Meridian (see #2 below). Still not super stiff, but more medium than medium-soft - for those that like a bit more stiffness to their freestyle binding, whether out of personal preference, or because they want to go bigger with their tricks.

Union Milan

Bindings: Union Milan

Flex: Medium-soft (4/10)

Smart Rating Score: 93.7/100

Union’s Milan bindings provide great board feel and that’s largely down to the mini-disc that it uses.

The Milan’s are also really comfortable with great cushioning for absorbing the shock on those landings – and they also have some really decent response for their flex, so if you want to also ride these over the rest of the mountain, you can do that too – and use the whole mountain as a park.

Finally, like most Union bindings, the Milan’s are extremely light weight, which just ads to their comfort and their performance.

WOMEN'S FREESTYLE BINDING #5

Burton Stiletto Bindings

Bindings: Burton Stiletto

Price: $189

Flex: Medium-Soft (3/10)

Smart Rating Score: 79.9/100

Starting off the list at #5 are the Burton Stiletto.

The Stiletto boast a great mix of board feel and shock absorption to help dial in those freestyle moves. They're also the cheapest on this list, and the softest flexing - so if you're on a budget and/or looking for something nice soft and forgiving, then the Stiletto might be a good option for you.

The Stiletto also comes in the EST version (to work with Burton snowboards that have the Channel system). These will feel slightly different but should offer a similar binding to the Re:Flex version with slightly less shock absorption but slightly better board feel.

Ride's DVA bindings make #4 on this list.

Like any good freestyle binding should the DVAs offer up great board feel and absorb shock well. They are also really comfortable to keep you riding all day.

On top of that, they have pretty decent response for their flex, giving you that ability to carve a little more aggressively when you feel the need.

Union Milan Bindings

Bindings: Union Milan

Price: $219

Flex: Medium-soft (4/10)

Smart Rating Score: 92.9/100

Union’s Milan bindings provide great board feel and that’s largely down to the mini-disc that it uses.

The Milan’s are also really comfortable with great cushioning for absorbing the shock on those landings – and they also have some really decent response for their flex, so if you want to also ride these over the rest of the mountain, you can do that too – and use the whole mountain as a park.

Finally, like most Union bindings, the Milan’s are extremely light weight, which just ads to their comfort and their performance.

Burton Scribe Bindings

Bindings: Burton Scribe (Re:Flex)

Price: $239

Flex: Medium (5/10)

Smart Rating Score: 84.4/100

Coming in at #3 on the list are the Burton Scribe bindings.

These are the stiffest flexing bindings on this list with a medium (5/10) flex. These would be a great choice for those that like their bindings slightly stiffer, even for freestyle riding – but that can still butter and press with the best of them.

The Scribes are also good shock absorbers, so (along with that slightly stiffer flex) are great for landing big jumps. But they’re still really butterable, whether in the Re:Flex or the EST model.

Naturally, being from Burton, they also have great adjustability and decent comfort to keep your fit right and feeling comfortable lap after lap in the park – or wherever you choose to take them.

The Scribe also comes in the EST version (to work with Burton snowboards that have the Channel system). These will feel slightly different but should offer a similar binding to the Re:Flex version with slightly less shock absorption but slightly better board feel.

Coming in at #2, are K2's Meridian bindings.

The Meridian's are new this year from K2 and are very similar to the Men's K2 Lineup (which made my men's freestyle list).

Apart from offering great board feel and decent shock absorption, the Meridian's are also very comfortable, highly adjustable and give you decent response to boot.

They are also the cheapest in this top 5. Bonus!

Burton Stiletto 2018Bindings: Burton Stiletto

Price: $189

Smart Rating Score: 85.0/100

The Stilettos provide plenty of padding and allow snowboards to flex naturally with them – making for great board feel/butterability.

They’re not the most responsive, but they offer everything else you’d want in freestyle bindings  – and they won’t break the bank either – being the 2nd cheapest on this list.

Union Rosa 2018Bindings: Union Rosa

Price: $149

Flex: Medium-Soft (3/10)

Smart Rating Score: 85.0/100

And coming in the #4 position are the Union Rosa bindings.

The Rosa’s are a really great all-round binding for freestyle riding, especially if you are just starting out with Freestyle type riding. They have a nice soft flex (3/10), are super shock absorbing and provide great board feel.

So whether you like to hit jumps, jib the rails or tweak grabs the Rosa’s have you covered.

And they manage all this at a really reasonable price – they are the cheapest on this list and a good bit cheaper than the average price of the 16 bindings I looked at – so you get heaps of performance without hurting the wallet too much!

They are also, typical of Union, very lightweight bindings.

Like their men’s counterparts, the K2 Lien FS, the Hue’s feature K2’s tripod chasis, which helps them to achieve great board feel.

That and the fact that they’re almost endlessly adjustable, really cushy and super comfortable, make these bindings awesome for freestyle riding.

Union’s Milan bindings provide great board feel and that’s largely down to the mini-disc that it uses. This is the biggest advantage of the Milan’s over the Rosa’s from earlier in this list, IMO.

The Milan’s are also really comfortable with great cushioning for absorbing the shock on those landings – and, like the Burton Scribe’s at #2, the Milan’s also have some really decent response, so if you want to also ride these over the rest of the mountain, you can do that too – and use the whole mountain as a park.

flux-gs-womens-snowboard-bindings-2017Bindings: Flux GS

Price: $249

Flex: Medium (4.5/10)

Smart Rating Score: 86.1/100

The GS lacks a bit in shock absorption. I consider this really important for freestyle so the low shock absorption drops the score quite a bit. But some riders don’t mind this and prefer the feel of this.

Outside of shock absorption the GS is an immaculate binding. They have a great flex (4.5/10 with 1 being softest and 10 stiffest) for freestyle riding, super comfortable and really adjustable so you can set it up just right.

Like most, if not all, flux bindings these days, the GSs have tool-less adjustability so you can adjust everything on the fly without tools, making it really easy to get that perfect fit.

It is also great for buttering and as a bonus it also has a surprising amount of responsiveness which means you can take it out of the park and bomb the rest of the mountain with confidence whenever you feel for it.

The GS features a women’s specific high-back and base plate.

What were the strengths and weaknesses of Flux’s GS Bindings?

And the number 2 spot goes to the K2 Yeah Yeah bindings.

Besides perhaps a bit of improvement in the ratchet system for an easier entry/exit these are near faultless as freestyle bindings.

They have an ideal flex for tweaking grabs and jibbing, plus great shock absorption for landing those jumps.

They are also highly adjustable so you can get the perfect fit and feel.

Oh yeah and Silje Norendal rides these too – in case that means anything to you!

Featuring K2’s “tweekback” for a great feel for freestyle riding.

In at number 3 we have the most value for money bindings on the list (along with #2) in the Burton Citizens (these are also great for beginners).

Great shock absorption and butterability means these are great for the park and other freestyle endeavors. Add to that a great medium-soft (3/10) flex and you’ll be tweaking grabs, hitting jibs and flying over jumps lap after lap – all without breaking the bank!

Best suited to small and medium jumps rather than larger jumps.

burton-scribe-snowboard-bindings-women-s-2017Bindings: Burton Scribe (Re:Flex)

Price: $249

Flex: Medium (5/10)

Smart Rating Score: 91.7/100

These are the stiffest flexing bindings on this list with a medium (5/10) flex. These would be a great choice for those that like their bindings slightly stiffer, even for freestyle riding – but that can still butter and press with the best of them.

The Scribes are also the best shock absorbers on the list so (along with that slightly stiffer flex) are great for landing big jumps. But Burton have managed to keep them very jibable all the same – a tough balance to get right but they seem to have nailed it.

Buying Past Season Models

Often models don't change that much from year to year so if you can find a past season model, it will likely be close enough to the latest model but you can get it cheaper, if available and in a suitable size for you. For past year's models check out the links below to see if they still have any left.
