Why This Board Was Chosen
The Rome Heist scored well enough to make my Top 5 Women’s Freestyle Snowboards list, which doesn't take price into account. The other 4 boards in the top 5 were all above the average price.
The Heist however is a good $37 cheaper than the average price.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $32 compared to last year
- Of the top half of the 17 boards, the average price was $504.
- The Heist was 5th - and was $75 cheaper than the average price of the the top 8.
- Of the top 8 the Heist was the equal cheapest
- The average score for the 7 boards that cost $429 or less was 78.5.

Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $36 compared to last year
- The average price for this category is $26 lower than the all-mountain-freestyle category (see above)
- The average price for the top half (top 12) was $533, making the Women's Basic $104 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list.

Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $329
Average price of all-mountain snowboards: | $478
Average Rating Score: | 82.1/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The Paradise has been a cheaper option of a good quality for years now. It's recently received a slight setback stance and so has been moved to the all-mountain category, where it was all-mountain-freestyle previously.
The Paradise scores well above the average score, but is $29 cheaper than the average price, so great value for money.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $34 compared to last year
- The average price for this category is $38 higher than the freestyle category (see above) but $12 higher than the freestyle category
- The average price for the top half (top 10) was $551, making the Paradise $102 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list.
- The Paradise was the lowest priced board in the Top 10
- Of the 11 boards costing $449 or less, the average score was 78

Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $439
Average price of freeride snowboards: | $540
Average Rating Score: | 80.6/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The Odyssey was only $40 more than the cheapest option in this category, but scored above the average.
A freeride board this price is hard to come by. Snowboards tend to cost more as they get stiffer, and whilst the Odyssey isn't extremely stiff or anything it's on the stiffer side of medium - and represents great value for those looking for a freeride board, but don't want to break the bank.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $33 compared to last year
- The average price for this category is the highest of all categories - $36 higher than the next highest.
- The average price for the top half (top 12) was $567, making the Odyssey $88 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list.
- The Odyssey was the lowest priced board in the Top 12
- Of the 6 boards costing $479 or less, the average score was 76.6

Number of beginner snowboards looked at: | 33
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $319
Average price of beginner snowboards: | $410
Average Rating Score: | 87.4/100 |
Why This Board Was Chosen
The Lectra was only $10 more than the cheapest – and it was the highest that I rated of all beginner boards. Not to mention that it's over $100 cheaper than the average price.
Price is taken into account for the scores for beginner boards – so this is somewhat skewed in this category.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $27 compared to last year
- The average price for this category is the lowest of all categories - $29 lower than the next lowest.
- The average price for the top half (top 16) was $397, making the Lectra $68 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list. The bottom half of the list had a higher average price than the top half though - because price in this case influenced the scores.

Whilst the Barrett is only $8 cheaper than the average - it's still cheaper than the average and gets a score miles higher than the average and is the # 3 board in my top 5 women's freeride list, which spells value for money to me.
And with the average of the other boards in the top 5 women's freeride snowboards list at $577, it's well below the price of the other high scoring women's freeride boards.

The boards chosen above were not chosen just because they were the cheapest in their category, but because they were the best value for money.

And with a score way above the average and the cost a huge $101 cheaper than the average, the Myth was an easy choice for this category (note that this category is the only category that gives points based on price, so the fact that it’s low cost helped with its score as well).
The Myth is a freestyle oriented board – if you’re a beginner but want an all-mountain oriented board, the Rossignol Gala (also featured in the all-mountain section above) is also $299 and scores 93.5/100.
How the Boards were Chosen
The boards chosen above were not chosen just because they were the cheapest in their category, but because they were the best value for money.
This is a list of cheap snowboards so of course they had to be at a low price but the price-quality ratio was also an important consideration.
The Best Cheap Women’s Freestyle Board
Board: Rossignol Tesla
Price: $349
SnowboardingProfiles.com Rating Score: 78.3/100
Number of freestyle snowboards looked at: | 19 |
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $299 |
Average price of freestyle snowboards: | $402 |
Average Rating Score: | 79.9/100 |
Why this board was chosen
Whilst the Tesla was very slightly below the average score of 79.9/100 it is more than $50 cheaper than the average price.
And of the 7 boards that I looked at that cost less than $350, the average score was 75.6/100 – so it is a good bit above the average score for boards under $350.
The Best Cheap Women’s Freestyle-All-Mountain Board
Board: DC Women’s Ply
Price: $379
SnowboardingProfiles.com Rating Score: 83.5/100
No. of freestyle-all-mountain snowboards looked at: | 20 |
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $329 |
Average price of freestyle-all-mountain snowboards: | $447 |
Average Rating Score: | 82.5/100 |
Why this board was chosen
Despite being $68 cheaper than the average price, the Women’s Ply was 1 point above the average score.
So it was better than the average board costing $447 but it only costs $379. That’s a bargain if you ask me. Also it’s only $50 more than the very cheapest I looked at.
And of all the freestyle-all-mountain boards I looked at costing less than $400, the average score was 77/100 – so it’s way above that. A steal for the price.
The Best Cheap Women’s All-Mountain Board
Board: Rossignol Frenemy
Price: $399
SnowboardingProfiles.com Rating Score: 85/100
No. of all-mountain snowboards looked at: | 26 |
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $269 |
Average price of all-mountain snowboards: | $449 |
Average Rating Score: | 79.9/100 |
Why this board was chosen
The Frenemy scores way above the average score – in fact the Frenemy scored high enough to make my top 6 women’s all mountain snowboards where it was going up against some much pricier boards.
And even though it’s way above the average score it’s still a good $50 less than the average price.
Of the 10 all-mountain boards I looked at that cost less than $400 the average score was 75/100 – so the Frenemy was a full 10 points higher! So in that lower price category this board is queen.
The Best Cheap Women’s Freeride Board
Board: Jones Women’s Flagship
Price: $549
SnowboardingProfiles.com Rating Score: 91.2/100
No. of freeride snowboards looked at: | 10 |
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $349 |
Average price of freeride snowboards: | $565 |
Average Rating Score: | 81.7/100 |
Why this board was chosen
You may notice a hike in the average price here. Freeride snowboards tend to cost more than other snowboards for various reasons. But I guess you want the best possible equipment if you’re doing things to the extreme – especially if you’re in the backcountry.
That said, there are some that are better value than others and the Jones Women’s Flagship represents great value. It might only be $16 cheaper than the average board here but it’s way above the average score – almost 10 points higher in fact.
It should also be noted that there was one board that cost $349 but that only scored 67.6/100 and the next cheapest was actually the Women’s Flagship (along with a few others on the same price) at $549.
The Best Cheap Women’s Beginner Board
Board: K2 First Lite
Price: $299
SnowboardingProfiles.com Rating Score: 93/100
No. of beginner snowboards looked at: | 27 |
Cheapest Board I Looked at: | $269 |
Average price of beginner snowboards: | $386 |
Average Rating Score: | 81/100 |
Why this board was chosen
The K2 First Lite is about the ideal beginner’s board.
And with a score a whopping 12 points above the average and the cost a huge $87 cheaper than the average, the First Lite was a no-brainer for this category.
How the Boards were Chosen
The boards chosen above were not chosen just because they were the cheapest in their category, but because they were the best value for money.
This is a list of cheap snowboards so of course they had to be at a low price but the price-quality ratio was also an important consideration.
