Average price of freestyle boots: | $254
Average Rating Score: | 80.8/100 |
Why These Boots Were Chosen
The Women's Hi-Standard OG are the equal cheapest in this category, coming in at $55 less than the average price of all the boots in this category - and well above the average score. In fact, enough so that they were the #5 selection in our Top 5 Women's Freestyle boots list.
Traditional lace boots tend to be cheaper, but if you're looking for a different lacing system, see the alternatives below.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $2 compared to last year (so fairly consistent with last year, which is unusual (in a good way) with most categories increasing by more).
- The average price for the top half (top 7) was $276, making the Hi-Standard OG $77 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this category.
- The Women's Hi-Standard OG were the lowest price in the whole category.

Average price of all-mountain boots: | $327

Why These Boots Were Chosen
This one was a no brainer. The Luna Ventana Pro were the lowest priced boots in this whole category but still managed to get the #5 spot in our Top 5 Women's All-Mountain boots list, which doesn't take price into account. Enough said, really.
The Luna Ventana Pro features a hybrid lace/BOA lacing system. If you have other preferences for lacing systems, check out the alternatives below.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $21 compared to last year
- The average price for this category is $73 higher than the freestyle category (see above)
- The average price for the top half (top 7) was $335, making the Luna Vantana Pro $66 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list.
- The Luna Ventana was the lowest priced binding in the Top 7 - in fact the lowest priced in the whole category.
Alternatives
Vans One and Done (Hybrid Lace/BOA) ($319 | 92.2 points)
K2 Kinsley (Double BOA) ($299 | 83.9 points)
Thirty Two Lashed (Traditional Lacing) ($299 | 82.2 points)
Burton Limelight (Speed Lace) ($289 | 80.6 points)
BEST CHEAP WOMEN'S FREERIDE BOOTS
FREERIDE BOOTS CATEGORY STATS |
# of freeride boots rated: | 12
Cheapest boots rated: | $299
Average price of freeride boots: | $401
Average Rating Score: | 86.6/100 |
Why These Boots Were Chosen
This was another no-brainer. The K2 Contour were only $30 more than the lowest priced boot we rated in this category and $72 cheaper than the average price, yet they scored well above the average price. In fact, they got the #2 spot in our Top 5 Women's Freeride boots list.
Whilst some might not see $329 as cheap for snowboard boots, it is for this category. When it comes to snowboard gear stiffer nearly always means more expensive. Hence why the average price for this category is so much higher than the previous categories.
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $41 compared to last year
- The average price for this category is the highest of all the categories - $74 higher than the next highest category (all-mountain), and $147 higher than the freestyle category (see above).
- The average price for the top half (top 6) was $435, making the Contour $106 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list.
- Of the 3 boots, not named the Contour and that were $329 or under, the average score was 83.7.
Alternatives
DC Mora (Double BOA) ($329 | 88.8 points)
Vans Viaje (Double BOA) ($369 | 93.6 points)
BEST CHEAP WOMEN'S BEGINNER BOOTS
BEGINNER BOOTS CATEGORY STATS |
# of beginner boots rated: | 18
Cheapest boots rated: | $199
Average price of beginner boots: | $237
Average Rating Score: | 87.3/100 |
Why These Boots Were Chosen
This is somewhat skewed in the case of the beginner category, since prices are taken into account in the scores.
But the Mint Lace still offer great value for money for those starting out on their snowboard journey at $38 cheaper than the average price and the equal cheapest for the whole category.
The Mint also come in Speed Lace and BOA versions (but they cost more, particularly the BOA option).
Some other notable numbers:
- The average price for this category went up by $13 compared to last year
- Price is taken into account for the scores for beginner boots – so this is somewhat skewed for this category.
- The average price for the top half (top 9) was $233, making the Mint Lace $34 cheaper than those that scored in the top half of this list. The bottom half of the list had a an average price that was actually a little higher, because price in this case influenced the scores.
- The Mint Lace were the equal cheapest in the whole category.
- The average price for this category is the lowest of all the categories, naturally being a beginner list - and with those that are suited to this category being softer flexing boots. They are $17 cheaper on average than the next closest (freestyle category) and $164 cheaper on average vs the highest priced category (freeride).
Alternatives
