The Mount Bachelor Snowboarding Resort, arguably the best in Oregon, is located 184 miles southeast of Portland and features more than 3,600 acres of ride-able terrain and caters for the freerider, freestyler, beginner and everything in between.
Whilst there is no lodging at the base of the mountain itself, there are plenty of Mt Bachelor lodging options nearby. The towns of Bend and Sunriver are the two main options.
Bend
Bend, Oregon is 22 miles (35km), and roughly 30 minutes drive, from the Mt Bachelor resort and offers a variety of lodging – whether you want to stay downtown or in a more secluded location.
Not only that, it is a lively city with 80,000 residents and 14 breweries. With 1 brewery for every 5,000 odd people you won’t have trouble finding a quality craft beer after your day on the mountain.
There are also plenty of transport options from Bend if you wanted to take it easy and let someone else drive you up the mountain.
Check out the link below for more on transportation from Bend, plus more info on the snowboarding on offer at Mt Batchelor.

Sunriver
Sunriver is located 21 miles (34km) southeast of the mountain and is roughly a 35 minute drive. Sunriver is populated by just 1,400 residents so naturally there are less options here than Bend.
However, if you are looking for a more secluded location and want to take in the tranquillity and beauty at the base of the Cascade Mountains then this might suit you best. It’s also just a 25 minute drive from Bend so if you feel for it you can cruise up to Bend pretty quickly.
Sunriver is also a great location for other activities too, particularly if you are into golf, and is a great summer location too and experiences warm and dry summers.
Further Out Options
The next closest town is Redmond, population round 27,000, which is around a 50 minute drive northeast of Mt Bachelor and 20 minutes drive from Bend.
Still doable but makes for a bit more driving in the day.
Best Way to Book
I find the best way to book is going through a site like booking.com. It’s easy to search and narrow down your options, they often have discounts, no booking fees etc.
But the biggest advantages of a booking site is that you can check out the reviews from people who have stayed in the place you are looking at. This is a great way to get an unbiased opinion.
I tend to use booking.com first and move on to others if I don’t find something that is what I’m after. The reason I use this one first is simply because it seems to have the most options all in one place.
Click on the link below to check the lodging booking.com has – hint: search for Sunriver and it will give you all the options for both Sunriver and Bend.

If you can’t find what you are looking for there try out hotels.com or the resort’s lodging page.
