Whilst there is no “on mountain” Grouse Mountain accommodation to speak of, it is so ridiculously close to Vancouver that it’s really not needed.
The same can be said for Cypress Mountain and Mount Seymour. Neither of those have any “on mountain” accommodation either but Downtown Vancouver is just a 20-40 minute drive for any one of these three resorts.
And North Vancouver is even closer – so there is a vast number of options for where to stay in all ranges of different accommodation and prices.
Getting to The Slopes from Vancouver
Unless you have a season pass for one of these ski areas it is easy enough to try out all three from wherever you stay in Vancouver and it’s not even necessary to have a car to explore them (though it’s always more convenient of course).
If you don’t have a car there are plenty of shuttle and even public transport options.
North Vancouver
Depending on where you are staying will depend on which mountain is easier to get to. If you don’t have your own transport and will be taking a shuttle bus or public transport then North Vancouver is the most convenient option for you.
Shuttle buses for both Cypress and Seymour leave from Londsdale Quay beside the “Bean Around the World” Coffee shop. This is near where the Sea Bus comes in.
Downtown Vancouver
But downtown is of course also a great option and getting public transport to Londsdale Quay is fairly easy depending on where you are staying. And of course if you have your own transport then your options are broader.
The Cypress Express Bus also picks up from Richmond (near the airport), Kitsalano (just South of downtown) and the Westend of Downtown. It also picks up from some Burnaby locations but on weekends only.
Grouse Mountain is accessible by public transport! Though you will need to make at least one transfer along the way. Check out one of the links below for more info on directions to particular ski resorts plus more info on the riding on offer at these mountains.
Whistler is also just a two hour drive from Vancouver so day trips out there are also doable.
Best way to Book
Click on of the link below to search for accommodation for your visit to Vancouver.
You just need to type in either Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada or North Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada and select the dates you would like to stay and the number of guests.
You can further narrow down your search by price, reviews, ratings and distance from the city centre.
Note that for Vancouver the city centre is considered to be where the Vancouver Town Hall is, which is on 12th Street. If you are looking to stay Downtown this will start from around 1.7km from there. You can see where each property is on the map by clicking the property and clicking “view map” to make sure you are in the location that you want.
I have chosen booking.com as the booking site I recommend as they have seem to have the widest range of accommodation out of all of them. It is also user friendly, making it easy to search and easy to book.
Plus they have heaps of users – why is this good? Because it means that they have heaps of reviews of people that have stayed in all the properties so you get an unbiased account of how the accommodation is.
